The open walk-in s*x offender registration normally held on Tuesdays will be postponed this week due to weather concerns.

Anyone needing to complete their registration is asked to come to the Hitchcock Police Department Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 9AM.

We love seeing the accomplishments of our former interns, especially when they’re members of our own community.

Kendall, a Hitchcock High School graduate and former Hitchcock Police Department intern, recently shared some exciting news. She had the opportunity to interview the Vice President of Security at General Motors in front of more than 500 employees and interns.

She’s also heading to California this week to speak at an event connected to a scholarship she received, and she was recently inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society for communication students.

It’s great to see Kendall continuing to pursue opportunities, build her skills, and represent herself and her community so well.

Congratulations, Kendall. We’re proud of you and look forward to seeing what comes next!

Jury Returns Guilty Verdict and 45-Year Sentence in Prino Road Shooting Case

The Hitchcock Police Department is providing an update regarding the May 15, 2025, shooting on Prino Road.

After a trial in Galveston County, a jury found Jkwon Howard guilty of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Following the guilty verdicts, the jury sentenced Howard to 45 years for Murder of Patrick Williams and 20 years for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Patrick Williams, as well as the surviving victim and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

This case represents the dedication and professionalism of the Hitchcock Police Department’s patrol officers, detectives, and our law enforcement partners who worked diligently from the initial response through the completion of the investigation. We also appreciate the efforts of the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office throughout the prosecution of this case.

The Hitchcock Police Department remains committed to serving our community, supporting victims and their families, and working with our criminal justice partners to ensure cases are thoroughly investigated and presented through the judicial system.

Hitchcock Police Homicide Investigation – Prino Road

This afternoon (5.15.25), at approximately 3:30 p.m., Hitchcock Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 6600 block of Prino Road.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult males with gunshot wounds and immediately rendered life-saving aid. Tragically, one victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The second was transported to UTMB Galveston, where he is currently undergoing surgery.

Witnesses described a possible suspect as a young Black male with dreadlocks wearing a dark-colored shirt. A male matching that description was located nearby while fleeing on foot. He was detained without incident and later confessed to the shooting during an interview with detectives.

The suspect, 20-year-old Jkwon Howard, has been charged with Murder (bond: $250,000) and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (bond: $150,000).

This investigation remains ongoing. We appreciate the community’s cooperation and will provide updates as appropriate.

We would also like to extend thanks to Bayou Vista PD, Texas City PD, Galveston County Pct 2, Galveston County Sheriffs Office, Galveston County District Attorneys Office, and Hitchcock ISD PD for assisting in the response.

The Hitchcock Police Department is pleased to report the safe recovery of two children following a multi-state investigation.

On Saturday, July 18th, the Hitchcock Police Department received information that two children with special needs had been taken from their legal guardian in Hitchcock in violation of an emergency court order. Officers immediately began an investigation and worked diligently to gather information and coordinate with law enforcement partners. Through those efforts and the assistance of federal and out-of-state agencies, the children were safely located in North Dakota.

A Hitchcock Police Department officer has now taken custody of the two girls from North Dakota Child Protective Services, and they are safely on their way home to Texas. We would like to thank Texas EquuSearch for providing transportation assistance that allowed our officer, the children’s guardian, and the two girls to be reunited and begin their return home.

As a result of the investigation, the Galveston County District Attorney's Office accepted two charges of kidnapping. Bond has been set at $100,000, and the suspect is in custody awaiting extradition to Galveston County.

We want to thank Texas Center for the Missing, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the United States Marshals Service, the Morton County Sheriff's Office (North Dakota), North Dakota Child Protective Services, and Texas EquuSearch for their outstanding partnership and assistance. This case is an example of how collaboration between agencies and organizations can help bring investigations to a successful resolution.

Most importantly, the children are safe and returning home.

Because this remains an active criminal investigation, we will not be releasing additional details at this time. We appreciate the public's understanding as investigators continue their work.

League City & Texas City Police Departments' Joint ICAC Operation Results in 11 Arrests, One Additional Arrest Pending

League City, TX (July 8, 2026) — In June 2026, the League City and Texas City Police Departments, in coordination with the Houston-Metro ICAC Task Force, conducted a multi-day proactive online operation targeting individuals suspected of attempting to engage in unlawful online communication with minors.

The operation has resulted in the arrest of eleven individuals. One additional arrest is pending the issuance of an arrest warrant.

All individuals arrested during the operation have been charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor. One individual was also charged with three counts of Possession of Visual Material Depicting Sexual Assault of a Child and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.

The League City Police Department remains committed to protecting the children of our community and holding accountable those who seek to exploit them. These operations demonstrate the importance of proactive investigations and strong partnerships among law enforcement agencies dedicated to keeping our communities safe.

The League City Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force agencies that participated in this operation for their professionalism, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to protecting children throughout the region. Participating agencies included the Texas City Police Department, Pearland Police Department, Dickinson Police Department, Hitchcock Police Department, Manvel Police Department, Houston Police Department, Galveston County Sheriff's Office, Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and Homeland Security Investigations Galveston. Also, special thanks to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office for their attendance and support throughout the operation.

🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE – SCHEDULED UTILITY CONSTRUCTION 🚧

Beginning Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the City of Hitchcock Public Works Department will be conducting scheduled utility construction between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (Noon). During this time, residents in the affected area may experience low water pressure or a temporary interruption in water service while our crews complete this necessary work to improve the City's utility system.

The contractor that is working at the FM 2004 @ Hwy. 6 bridge is preparing to make the connection to the new facilities at the intersection.

We understand that interruptions to your water service can be frustrating and may affect your daily routine. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work to better serve our community.

Happy Independence Day from the Hitchcock Police Department!

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of those who fought to secure our nation’s freedom, as well as the men and women of our Armed Forces who continue to defend it today.

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend with family and friends. If you’re traveling, drive responsibly, designate a sober driver if alcohol is involved, keep a close eye on children around fireworks, and remember to be courteous to your neighbors.

We have been made aware of several scam calls coming from city issued numbers today. These numbers are being spoofed by unknown individuals as an attempt to obtain your personal information. Please be mindful of giving any personal information over the phone.

A spoofed number is a fake caller ID. Scammers use software to hide their real phone number. They make your phone show a trusted name or a local number instead. For example, they might pretend to call from a bank, the IRS, or a neighbor to trick you into answering.
