🌟Grantee Spotlight: Hixton Volunteer Fire Department

We’re proud to recognize the Hixton Volunteer Fire Department as one of the recipients of our 2026 Annual Grant Cycle.

Grant funds will help put a newly purchased wildfire brush truck into service by providing essential equipment including emergency lighting, sirens, lettering, and other necessary items to ensure the truck is ready to respond when needed.

Thank you to the dedicated volunteers of the Hixton Volunteer Fire Department for your continued service, commitment, and protection of the community. We’re grateful for all that you do!

07/22/2026 - HVFD Monthly training

Yesterday's training focused on Engine Company Operations – Fire Attack & Water Supply. Crews spent two hours sharpening essential firefighting skills, including pump operations, hydrant water supply, hose advancement, fireground radio communications, and water shuttle operations.

Training scenarios gave members hands-on experience with simulated structure fires, establishing hydrant connections, advancing attack lines, conducting 360 size-ups, and setting up water shuttle fill and dump sites with tank-to-tank drafting. After each evolution, crews rotated positions to ensure everyone practiced multiple roles.

A big thank you to all of our members for their dedication and teamwork. Continuous training like this helps keep our firefighters prepared to serve the Hixton community safely and effectively.

Special thanks to the Corner Store It Is, LLC in BRF for preparing us with a delicious meal afterwards.

🇺🇸 What a fantastic day in Hixton!

Here's a look back at the Hixton Volunteer Fire Department's America's 250th Anniversary celebration, featuring a parade, fireworks, delicious food, a corn hole tournament, and live music by Uncle Ron.

While this event was a celebration, it also helps support an important mission. The Hixton Volunteer Fire Department is staffed by 100% volunteers who answer emergency calls whenever they're needed.

🚒 The department is always looking for:
❤️ Community donations to help purchase equipment and provide firefighter training.
👨‍🚒 New volunteers who want to serve their neighbors and make a real difference.
