As students head back to class, let’s all do our part: slow down, put distractions away, and watch for children walking and biking to school. Give yourself extra time, be patient around school drop-offs, and follow our crossing guards’ directions.

Please be aware that tomorrow, August 10, 2026, at approximately 1:30pm (weather permitting) there will be a helicopter flying over town and landing on the grass field on Lloyd Rd for a Junior Police Academy demonstration. There is no need to be alarmed. Thank you.

In case you missed it, as of July 19, 2026, New Jersey has implemented new laws affecting many electric bicycles.

Riders should familiarize themselves with the updated licensing, registration, insurance, and helmet requirements before operating an e-bike on public roadways.

Please review the information in the graphic above and help us keep our roads safe for everyone.

🚶‍♂️🚦 Have you noticed something new on N. Maple Avenue?

Ho-Ho-Kus has installed a new pedestrian crossing signal to help make crossing N. Maple Avenue safer for everyone.

If you’re crossing:
🔹 Press the blue button to activate the signal.
🔹 Wait for the lights to begin flashing before entering the crosswalk.
🔹 Always look both ways and make eye contact with approaching drivers whenever possible.

Drivers: 🚗 When the crossing lights are flashing, slow down, be alert, and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

This new crossing is another step toward making our streets safer for residents and visitors alike.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate America’s Independence Day with family, friends, and neighbors, we wish everyone a fun, safe, and memorable holiday weekend! ❤️🤍💙

🎆 Fireworks Reminder: In New Jersey, aerial fireworks are illegal. Fireworks that fly into the air or explode overhead may not be possessed or used by the public. However, certain ground-based novelty fireworks (such as sparklers, fountains, and similar devices) are legal when used safely and in accordance with state law.

Whether you’re heading to a barbecue, parade, pool party, or enjoying one of the many professional fireworks displays, please remember:
🇺🇸 Leave aerial fireworks to the professionals.
🚔 Never drive impaired.
🚸 Watch for children, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
🐶 Keep pets indoors if they’re frightened by fireworks.
🚒 Have a bucket of water or hose nearby if using legal ground-based fireworks.

📸 A Special Visit to Ho-Ho-Kus Police Headquarters!

Today, we were honored to welcome a wonderful group of students to police headquarters for a behind-the-scenes tour. The students had the opportunity to meet our officers, explore a patrol vehicle, learn about police equipment, and ask lots of great questions.

🍋🚓 Sweet treats and community spirit! Today, some Ho-Ho-Kus kids selling lemonade and cookies got a special visit from officers from both the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department and Saddle River Police Department. . Thanks for the refreshments and smiles! 💙
