⚠️STORM DEBRIS UPDATE - TUESDAY, AUGUST 25
Our community continues to make progress following the storm, but recovery efforts are not finished. Here is the latest information for Hobart residents:

⚡ POWER RESTORATION
Approximately 30 NIPSCO customers in Hobart remain without power. If you are one of those customers, please continue reporting your outage directly to NIPSCO—even if you have already reported it.
• Report online at NIPSCO.com/out
• Text OUT to 444111
• Call 1-800-464-7726

If you see a downed or sagging power line, stay away and assume it is live. Call 911 and NIPSCO immediately.

🌳 STORM DEBRIS REMOVAL

Public Works employees and the City’s contracted crews are working throughout our City every day to remove storm debris.
Mayor Josh has asked our contractors to bring in additional trucks, and we expect to have seven contracted trucks working in the City by this weekend.
Even with the additional equipment, this will continue to be a long cleanup effort. The amount of debris throughout Hobart is significant, and crews must work carefully and safely. We know residents are anxious to have their piles removed, but please be assured that our teams are working as quickly as possible and will reach every neighborhood.
Please place tree limbs and vegetation near the curb without blocking streets, sidewalks, storm drains, fire hydrants, utility equipment, road signs or sightlines at intersections.
There is no need to call Public Works to report tree limbs or other outdoor tree debris. Crews are already sweeping through the entire City and will collect those materials as they reach each neighborhood.

🏠 STORM-DAMAGED HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
If you have storm damaged items from inside your home, including carpeting, furniture or other household materials, please place on the curb and call Hobart Public Works at 219-942-6121 to request a special pickup.
Residents will not be charged for storm related special pickups. Please call only for household materials requiring a special pickup, not for tree limbs or vegetation.

We understand how difficult and exhausting this recovery has been for many of our residents. Thank you for your continued patience and for giving our crews the space they need to work safely. Our teams are doing everything they can, and they will get to your pile.
