New version for the REGION! Are you all over the big storms from August? In Northwest Indiana we are not. There are still tons of trees and debris to be cleaned up. It's going to be a long, long process. I serve on the Parks Board of the small town of New Chicago Indiana. We have a minuscule budget, but we have a huge amount of tree damage to remove from our three parks. I'm putting out a small collection of T-shirts coffee, mugs, tote bags, etc. that you can buy online through my Fine Art America website. All the profits from these items will be donated to support the cleanup in the town's parks. You Survived, you deserve a T-shirt! Thank You!

📢 Happy Labor Day weekend! We all deserve some well-earned R&R after the last three weeks.

We wanted to share a few quick, important updates regarding our community parks:

Park Closures: Both Twin Oaks Park and Tot Park remain closed until further notice for safety. We have met with our insurance adjuster and two tree service companies. We are required to get three bids before work can begin, and a third company is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday. Twin Oaks is going to be a massive clean-up project, but we hope to have Tot Park open soon!

Mowing Schedule: We know the grass is getting long! Our zero-turn mower is currently in the shop. Once the parts arrive and repairs are finished—hopefully by the end of next week—we will resume our regular mowing schedule. 🚜

Dumpster & Waste Reminder: A huge thank you to two amazing, tireless volunteers, Hector and John! Thanks to their help clearing a path, Total was able to remove the dumpster full of spoiled food.
⚠️ Please note: Do not leave household trash, rotting food, or cat litter at the park. The New Chicago Parks Department is run entirely by just four board members—we have no paid staff. When something needs to be done, we do it ourselves, and our plates are incredibly full right now.

Thank you so much for your cooperation, patience, and understanding as we work to get everything back in shape! 🙏
