A big thank-you to Remus Farm for donating an apple tree to replace the one lost during the derecho. The new tree has been planted in front of Station 1, near the plaque honoring our first Fire Chief, Harrigan. We’re grateful for this thoughtful gift and the chance to keep that spot growing for years to come.

We also want to thank Aligned Energy Lounge for stopping by Station 1 today and treating our firefighters to some delicious drinks. We appreciate your kindness and support!

LIVE FIRE TRAINING COMPLETE

Our live fire training has concluded, and State Road 51 is now open.

You may still see light smoke from smoldering debris. We’re aware of it and keeping a close watch.

The Hobart Fire Department will conduct a controlled training burn tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, from approximately 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old Sapper’s property.

State Road 51 will be temporarily closed between Laura Lane and 11th Place during the exercise. Residents and motorists may notice smoke and increased emergency vehicle activity. Please use alternate routes and avoid the training area.

This past week, Hobart firefighters trained on roof operations, vertical ventilation and roof rescue at our acquired structures.

This was one of our final training sessions at the site before we begin live-fire burns. These hands-on evolutions help our crews build skills and prepare to operate safely and effectively on the fireground.

Today, our fire prevention team and firefighters connected with community members at the Maria Reiner Senior Center’s Health and Wellness Fair and Precious Moments Daycare.

At the senior center, we shared important safety information for older adults. At the daycare, we talked with the kids about fire safety and gave them a chance to see our fire truck up close.

Thank you to both locations for welcoming us. We enjoyed spending the day helping our community stay safe!
