The Lea County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting DWI checkpoint‘s during September 2026.

The checkpoints, along with increased DWI patrols throughout the month, is designed to identify and apprehend impaired drivers and help make our roadways safer for everyone.

The Lea County Sheriff’s Office strongly believes in the importance of saving lives through proactive traffic-safety strategies. We encourage everyone to take an active role in keeping our community safe. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired, call 911 and report it.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Traffic Safety Division provides overtime grant funding to local law enforcement agencies for traffic safety enforcement, training, education, and equipment in high-risk areas statewide. This partnership strengthens efforts to enhance road safety and reduce impaired driving across New Mexico communities, creating safer roads for all.

We’re excited to join the community for Hobbs August Nites! While the full event kicks off Friday evening, GCLC will be participating in the nonprofit engagement day on Saturday, August 29th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lea County Center for the Arts.

Bring your family, stop by our booth, and enjoy a day filled with creativity, confidence‑building, and wellness fun!

We’re excited to share a quick reminder about the Honoring OUR Babies: 1st Lea County Community Baby Shower & Diaper Drive, co‑hosted by United Way of Lea County, Uganda Richardson, LCSW LLC and us!

This event supports families across Lea County helping make a meaningful impact. We’re collecting diapers, wipes, pull‑ups, and other baby essentials to support local parents and caregivers.

📦 Donation Drop‑Off Locations for GCLC:

Our county‑wide goal is 25,000 diapers and wipes. Even if we don’t reach the full number, every single donation helps a local family. Your support truly makes a difference.

August and September are packed with community fun, resources, and opportunities to connect. GCLC will be there—stop by and enjoy great food, fun, and connection. Look for us at a booth or table and join us. Here’s what’s coming up:

🎉 Hobbs August Nites — August 28–29
GCLC will be participating during the nonprofit portion **on Saturday, August 29, from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM**.
There will be activities for all ages throughout both days—don’t miss it!

🍼 Community Baby Shower & Diaper Drive — September 8
Join us from **4:00–6:00 PM** at the Lea County Center for the Arts (LCCA).
We also have a donation box at our Broadway location for anyone who’d like to contribute diapers or wipes. More on this in tomorrow's social media post.

🎓NMJC Resource Fair — September 9
We’ll be at NMJC from **11:00 AM–1:00 PM** with **two tables** full of resources, information, and giveaways.
Come say hello and learn more about the services we offer.

🍳 United We Cook Fest — September 26
Hosted by United Way, this community event runs **9:00 AM–4:00 PM**.
