Love the United Way!

πŸ‘ At this week’s City Commission meeting, we were honored to have in attendance Becca Titus, CEO and President of United Way of Lea County.

ℹ️ Becca thanked City of Hobbs employees for their monetary contributions throughout 2025. She presented City Manager Manny Gomez with a statuette awarding the City of Hobbs as a Top Ten Inspired Giver in 2025, and we thank every employee who contributed.

➑️ We thank Becca and the incredible staff at .tedwayofleacounty for their invaluable contributions to our community throughout the year, every year. The work they do is tireless, life-changing, and too often thankless, and we want to take this moment to recognize their incredible work in Hobbs and across Lea County.

πŸ‘πŸ½ Becca is pictured here with Mayor Sena, City Manager Gomez, and City of Hobbs Commissioners.

I can’t remember who provided me with this photo, but it is of the trampolines at Peppermint Park, which was located at approximately 2200 N. Jefferson in the Bel Aire Shopping center, across the parking lot from the grocery store that went by several names over the years (Foodway?). The area now appears to be a storm drainage pit. Back in the day there was a small scale railroad that ran around the small amusement park.

πŸ“’ Important Reminder About Handicap Parking Spaces πŸš—

β™Ώ The City of Hobbs is issuing a friendly reminder about the importance of respecting designated handicap parking spaces throughout our community. These spaces are specifically reserved for individuals with mobility challenges, allowing them to access essential services and navigate public spaces with greater ease and safety. It is crucial for everyone to be considerate and follow the rules to ensure that these spots remain available for those who truly need them.

πŸ‘‰ Please Remember:

πŸ”΅ Reserved for those who need them: Handicap parking spaces are exclusively for vehicles displaying a valid handicap placard or license plate. These vehicles are permitted to park in these spots to accommodate the mobility needs of their drivers or passengers.

πŸ”΅ Placards must be visible: If you are using a handicap space, be sure to clearly display your handicap placard or license plate to avoid any confusion or violations.

πŸ”΅ Improper use: Parking in a handicap space without the proper authorization is not only disrespectful, but also illegal. Improper use can result in fines and penalties.

πŸ«‚ By following these simple guidelines, we can all contribute to making Hobbs a more accessible, respectful, and inclusive city for residents and visitors alike. Let’s work together to ensure that everyone has equal access to the services and resources they need!

πŸ’™ We thank you for your cooperation and continued support in this matter. Together, we can enjoy a community where every person, regardless of ability, feels welcome and included.
