Behind the flashing lights and brave faces, there are men and women carrying invisible wounds.

The things they see, the calls they answer, the pain they absorb—it changes them.

First responders are trained to run toward chaos, but who runs toward them when the chaos seeps into their hearts?

Let’s remember that heroes need healing, too.

Check in on your firefighter, your EMT, your police officer. Ask how they really are.

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones silently fighting battles no one else can see.

How does donated blood save lives? Why are summer blood shortages such a concern? And what happens when patients need emergency air medical transport between hospitals?

Join Anne Tuesday on Meet Me at the Diner as we welcome Matthew Teel and Jordan Mueller of the Med-Trans Air Medical Team for an important conversation about the upcoming Battle of the Birds Blood Drive.

We’ll talk about:

• Battle of the Birds – Together Lifting the Blood Supply
• Summer blood shortages and community need
• Air medical transport and emergency response
• Med-Trans and Self Regional teamwork
• How YOU can help save lives through blood donation

The blood drive takes place Wednesday, June 3 at Self Regional Healthcare as flight crews and medical teams work together to help strengthen the blood supply heading into summer.
