National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, often called Dispatcher Appreciation Week, in 2026 is observed from April 12 to April 18, 2026. This week honors the "first" first responders—the 911 dispatchers, call-takers, and telecommunicators—who work 24/7 to provide essential support to public safety personnel and the community. The Lewis County Sheriff's Office would like to THANK and show our appreciation for all Dispatchers and especially our local Hohenwald Dispatch!!!

Our supply of firewood for the wood program has built back up significantly since the recent ice storm. Leading up to the storm, Sheriff Matt Tiller removed income limits to allow all Lewis County citizens access to this free service provided by the Sheriffs Department.

We were able to get citizens between 250-300 ranks of wood leading up to and during the storm. The inmates in this program worked extremely hard gathering and loading this wood for the citizens. We were able to provide citizens around 500 total ranks of wood this winter.

We were down to having zero available wood as a result of the storm and have built it back up to approximately 100 ranks as we prepare the supply for next winter. We are thankful to the citizens that donate the wood to this program. Have a blessed day!

Sheriff Tiller would like to share the following good news.
Yesterday the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office had the privilege of celebrating five inmates receiving their GED while incarcerated here at the Lewis County Jail. The five graduates are: Eric Maye, Christian Schmitz, Jessie Potter, and Kristen Stinson. Not pictured, John Brown.
A Special Thank You to teacher, Ms. Julie Harlan with HI Set Academy for her role in helping the students prepare to test.
Sheriff Tiller is very proud of any incarcerated individual that participates in our GED program while at LCJ. Sheriff Tiller is very appreciative of the entire LCJ staff for their role in making this happen.
Thanks Mayor Keltner for supporting this effort and joining the graduation.

An increased number of folks have recently reported receiving similar phone calls. Sheriff Tiller would like to remind everyone that a legitimate law enforcement authority does not call you to tell you that you have an outstanding warrant or that you have missed jury duty and then suggest or offer to resolve the matter over the phone or by sending any money. Please do not engage with these scammers and please do not send money. Have a blessed Thanksgiving everyone.
