It’s taken awhile to get pictures of both of these two guys. Both Danton and Garrett have recently hit their 10 years on the department. Without volunteers like these guys there would be no BCFD #2. Thank you for your service.

We’ve had a busy evening tonight. We responded to two separate mutual aides with Galatia and Great Bend. One was put out by rain and the other Great Bend was able to handle on their own. After that we responded to a wheat field fire from a lightning strike. The field was still green so not much damage was done. A big shout out and thank you goes to our awesome dispatchers at Barton county communications for keeping everyone in the county going in the right direction.

Tonight several of our firefighters attended a school put on by the Great Bend Fire Department. They were training on several different aspects of fighting structure fires. We are always trying to stay on top of the current practices as well as getting experience working with other departments. These are few pictures from tonight’s training . 👨🏻‍🚒

Today at approximately 6:00 pm BCFD #2 Galatia was paged to a grass fire in a farm yard in the north part of the county. In standard practice during this dry spell the Hoisington and Olmitz stations were paged to assist with the fire. Upon our arrival at the residence we found the front yard of the residence had been burnt and mostly out upon our arrival. Water was sprayed on the entire burnt area to make sure the fire was out. The cause of the fire appeared to be from a riding mower. Other than the mower there was no other damage. BCFD #2 was assisted by BCSO and Barton County District.

Earlier this week BCFD #2 Hoisington station responded to an unattended fire in Susank. Upon our arrival we found a small brush pile covered by dirt smoldering with no one around. The fire was put out and all crews returned to the station. Just a a reminder that Barton County is in a burn ban.
