🚒Investing in Safety Through Regional Partnership

Thanks to regional 911 grant funding, the East Bridgewater Fire Department has received new multi-band portable radios that will significantly improve communications for our firefighters.

Reliable communication is one of the most important tools we carry. These radios allow our members to communicate seamlessly with other emergency responders and mutual aid partners, helping ensure a coordinated response when seconds count.

We're thankful for the funding that made this upgrade possible and proud to continue investing in the safety of our firefighters and the community we serve.

Jimmy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to HRECC, having previously served as a Holbrook Police Officer. His years of experience on the road have given him a unique perspective that he now brings to the communications center, allowing him to provide valuable insight and a deeper understanding of the situations our telecommunicators encounter every day.

Since joining HRECC, Jimmy has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the center, his coworkers, and the communities we serve. He is always willing to step up, share his knowledge, and lend a helping hand. His experience, professionalism, and calm presence make him a tremendous asset to our team.

What makes Jimmy especially deserving of this recognition is that even after retiring from a long career in law enforcement, he continues to give back to the community by answering the call from behind the console. He brings the same commitment to service that defined his career in the field and continues to make a difference every time he sits down at a dispatch position.

Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center (HRECC) Receives $8 Million State Grant to Further Enhance Public Safety
HOLBROOK — The Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center (HRECC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a substantial grant of $8,838,644 from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS).

This grant, part of the Fiscal Year 2027 State 911 Department Regional Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Secondary Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Emergency Communications Center Development Grant Program, will significantly enhance HRECC’s capabilities and support public safety efforts across multiple communities.

The grant will fund the acquisition of more than $5 million in new equipment, and allocate transition awards to support the further integration of several towns into HRECC, including Avon, Dover, East Bridgewater, Fairhaven, Holliston, Norwood, Sherborn, Stoughton and Sudbury.

“The Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center continues to save our Department money while steadily improving our communications network across jurisdictions,” said East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins. “The State 911 Department grant funding has been critical in our transition to the HRECC, and our entire community is grateful for this investment.”

This funding will also bolster transition expenses for security measures for the Abington Police, Avon Police and Fire, Dover Public Safety and Stoughton Fire departments, as well as facilitate the acquisition of critical equipment necessary to enhance 911 services.

“HRECC is widely recognized as a model for future regional dispatch centers, but operating a regional emergency communications center requires substantial investment,” said HRECC Director Steve Hooke. “This grant will help us continue providing reliable, high-quality 911 services while supporting additional communities as they join HRECC.”

The grant contract began on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2027. This funding will be utilized in accordance with the Development Grant Guidelines to ensure that all initiatives are aligned with the provision of enhanced 911 services.

“Our path to success would be far more difficult without this vital State 911 Department grant,” Hooke said. “The region’s first responders, our municipal partners, and all of our communities will directly benefit from this investment.”
