Show Low Junior High School invited us to participate in their career day. Officers talked about Probation and what probation work looks like. Students got to watch our detection dog, Zeus, in action. They learned about dog handling from Officer Larson and Officer Lee. Chief Cash brought his therapy dog and discussed Ozzie and his job in probation. Officers Dillard, LeSueur and Bakurza ran some students through our virtual reality training. Thank you for having us, we had a great time and met some future probation officers!

Today we proudly recognize Tamara Ortega on her graduation from Drug Court, celebrating an incredible 17 months of sobriety.

Throughout her journey, Tamara has shown dedication, resilience, and a true commitment to change. When asked what mattered most, she shared that learning strong communication skills made the biggest difference—and she has worked hard to improve them daily.

Tamara encourages others in the program to stay focused, put in the work, and believe in themselves.

Congratulations, Tamara. This achievement reflects your strength and determination, and it marks the beginning of an even brighter future ahead.

And a very special thanks to our guest speaker, Jackie Fountain with Community Bridges Inc., for sharing encouraging words today with the entire group.

Today Derrick Nelson graduated from Drug Court. Derrick graduated with eighteen months of sobriety and looks to the bright future ahead. Derrick told us how Drug Court has impacted his life: “Honestly, I can say that drug court has been a big part of my life. Not only was it about sobriety, it has helped me be a better son, soon to be father & older brother to my family.
It taught me how to cope with different challenges in life. It has challenge me to be a better person when I thought it was a system to set me up for failure, which I know now is not the case. I will always appreciate the drug court team and drug court program for reaching deep down and helping me find myself and get back on track in life.”

Congratulations Derrick! We are so proud of you!

We also had guess speaker Stephanie Spears, a Drug Court alumni, share words of encouragement, resilience and how what she learned in Drug Court help her overcome some difficult life challenges. Thank you Stephanie!

For the month of October, individuals on probation with Navajo County who owed community service hours had the opportunity to purchase toys for children in need within our communities — and exchange those donations for service hours.

Our probationers truly came through! 🎁

North County donated toys, in partnership with Romos in Winslow, that will be distributed to the City of Holbrook, The City of Joseph City, and The City of Winslow. Romos is working with each school district to identify families in need this holiday season.

South County donated to the Advocacy Center in Show Low.

A huge thank-you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference this season! 💙

Stay tuned for our annual food drive coming soon!
