On May 25th, 1965, Captain Wilkinson called to order the second official company meeting. At this meeting, possible names for the company were brought to the floor by the membership. The suggestions were Protection Engine Company, Union Engine Company, Pioneer Engine Company, Empire Engine Company, and Lightning Engine Company. A motion was made by Lieutenant Goodman and seconded by Nathaniel Granger for the name to be Lightning Engine Co. 1. It was voted on and passed by the members and is now our history.
