The Holbrook Fire District was organized on July 1932. The Fire District is located in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. The Fire districts is an autonomous public corporations, independent from the towns in which they are located, established for the primary purpose of providing fire protection and responding to certain other types of emergencies. Governed by a publicly elected board of fire
commissioners and have the authority to levy taxes. Fire districts have the authority to incur debt generally without approval from any other governmental entity. Fire district boundaries sometimes cross town and county lines. The Holbrook Fire Department is in Suffolk County's Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services 3rd Fire Division. The District has an area of approximately 18 square miles covering Holbrook, Holtsville, Blue Point, Sayville, and Bayport. It has a wide variety of structures including; single and multiple family dwellings, mixed industrial and commercial structures and several Sachem Central School district buildings, many taxpayers and commercial structures, multiple garden apartment complexes, the Long Island Rail Road, and Islip MacArthur Airport. Holbrook Fire Department also covers three major roadways. Veterans Memorial Highway, Sunrise Highway, Nichols Road, and Patchogue Holbrook Road serving as major thoroughfare for commercial and commuter traffic. The Holbrook Fire Department responds to fire, rescue and Emergency Medical calls. The Department responds to an average of 2500+ runs each year. The Department is under the command of Chief Richard Stack, the 45st Chief of the Department. Holbrook FD operates out of 3 locations.
