We know summer has just begun, and we hope you are enjoying every minute of it! Whether you're traveling, spending time with family, reading great books, playing outside, or simply relaxing, we hope your summer is filled with fun and wonderful memories.

While August may seem a long way off, we wanted to share a few important dates for the start of the school year:

📅 July 31 – Parent Portal Opens
Families can log in to view their student's teacher assignment.

📅 August 10 | 5:00–6:00 PM – Meet Your Teacher Night
For students in grades 1–5.

📅 August 12 – First Day of School
For students in grades 1–5.

📅 August 14 – Kindergarten Meet Your Teacher Day

📅 August 17 – First Day of Kindergarten

Our staff is already looking forward to welcoming our Oakwood Owls back for another incredible year of learning, growth, friendship, and success. Until then, enjoy your summer and make lots of happy memories!

The Cottonwood Community Night is tonight!

5:30-7:30 pm at Cottonwood High School

All families in the Cottonwood Network are invited to attend! Free food, swag, and activities.

Owl Chorale will perform
Performance time: approximately 6:40 pm
Arrival time: 6:20 pm
Location: auxiliary gym (meet on the grass outside, southeast corner of Cottonwood High)

Some of our 5th grade Oakwood Owls District STEM Fair winners recently competed at the University of Utah State Science Fair, an achievement that reflects considerable dedication and rigorous accomplishment in scientific inquiry. We are pleased to recognize the students who earned official awards for their innovative research and hard work.

Samuel Barton, Joshua Yip, and Eric Moulding received the Scientific Merit award in Physics, Astronomy and Math for their project on Magnets for a Levitating Train.

Eloise Brown earned 4th place in Civil and Energy Engineering for her project on earthquake-resistant building design.

Ava Cederholm received 2nd place in Computer Science and Applied Computation Methods for her AI Tomato Dr. project, along with a special recognition from Red Butte Garden & Arboretum for Excellence in Plant Sciences.

We are so proud of these students whose accomplishments represent the result of careful investigation and thoughtful problem-solving. We extend our congratulations to all participants for their contributions to the fair.

Dr. Seuss Week has been wonderful so far! Yesterday, students had a blast guessing the number of fish in the jars, and today they took on the challenge of stacking cups—just like Yertle the Turtle.

As a quick reminder, tomorrow students are welcome to join in the fun by wearing silly socks, a hat, or both. We can’t wait to see all the creativity!

Thank you to the amazing volunteers for making this week so memorable for our students.
