Holland Fire Department

Holland Fire Department The Holland Fire Department was organized in February of 1945 for the protection of life and property against fire for the citizens of the Town of Holland.

Since February 1945, the Fire Service has taken on numerous tasks and the Holland Fire Department has maintained its skill level to meet the emergencies we are called upon to respond to. Fire Suppression, Hazardous Materials Emergencies, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Medical Emergencies, Boating and Water Emergencies and more recently meeting the need to respond to terrorist threats/incidents to name a

few. The Holland Fire Department covers an area of just over 16 square miles with a Full-Time population of around 2,500 residents with an increase to around 5,000 residents during the summer months. We have Hamilton Reservoir and a hand full of smaller lakes with many different recreational water activities taking place on all of them. We not only work within the borders of Holland, but are part of a larger force of trained professionals willing and able to meet the call for assistance to our neighbors on our boarders and across the Commonwealth.

Today (Friday 5/29/26), members of the Holland Fire Department had a fantastic time participating in Holland Elementary School's Field Day! We joined students throughout the day for several fun and interactive activities, including a firefighter challenge course where students tested their firefighting skills, we also provided a cooling station to help everyone stay comfortable in the warm weather.

To add to the fun, we handed out junior firefighter helmets, sunglasses, and freeze pops to the students throughout the day. Seeing all the smiles and excitement made the event even more special!

A special thank you to the Holland Elementary School staff and the Holland PTO for organizing such a wonderful event and inviting us to be a part of it. We truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into making Field Day a memorable experience for the students.

We always enjoy opportunities to connect with our community, build positive relationships, and make lasting memories with the children and families we serve.

We had a blast and hope everyone else did too!

This past Friday evening (May 22, 2026) the members of the Holland Fire Department held our annual SCBA Dodgeball training. This training helps members understand how much air they will use while preforming tasks during physical activities, much like when they are working during a fire. It helps give them an idea of how much time they can expect to have while working with their SCBA's (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), and practice different breathing techniques to help conserve air consumption under stressful conditions. It's a great training for the members to not only understand the limitations of their equipment and their bodies, but it's also a great team building exercise and allows us to have some fun and a few laughs at the same time. After the timed session was completed, we had a few more games and included the local kids that were watching us during the training.

It's getting hot in here! If you're breaking out the air conditioner to beat the heat, remember that ACs and other heavy appliances should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet -- not an extension cord or power strip. More electrical safety tips: https://ow.ly/TFJg50SBOW6
