It is impossible to escape the constant flood of political advertisements and political discussions during election season. But do they really help you get to know the candidates and issues you’re about to face at the ballot box?

When you make the decision to vote, it is vital that you feel ready to make informed decisions on issues that affect your community. If you want to ensure that you are prepared, there are two can’t-miss events coming up, both sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

The first event takes place this Thursday in Grand Haven at Central Park Place (formerly the Grand Haven Community Center), 421 Columbus Avenue.

The second is on Wednesday, October 14 in the Howard Miller Library Ballroom in Zeeland at 14 S. Church Street.

Have you been paid to support me?

I have spoken to so many people across the district - personally spoken to them. Because it is important to me to hear directly from those I want to serve. But Turning Point Action and Elon Musk's America PAC are paying all expenses to send people to our state and knock on doors for Republicans.

My opponent can write himself a check or call on dark money to fund advertising - I depend on you.

Our campaign is working hard to reach everyone in this district. After working all day, campaigning by phone, knocking on 74 doors, and then heading to an evening event, nothing tops it all off better than sliding into the welcoming embrace of great people who've built an amazing community and institution on the Lakeshore.

The historic Park Theatre in Holland combines great music and a celebration of community with their fundraiser, Park Fest 2026, taking place this weekend.

For 25 years, the nonprofit foundation has worked to create opportunities for artists and audiences alike. The festival features 12 local and regional acts across two nights, with each participating artist donating their time to support the theatre.

The Ottawa County Fire Chiefs Legislative Dinner was an honor to attend.

This annual event facilitates direct communication between emergency first responders and lawmakers to discuss current affairs impacting public safety and to build relationships between the fire chiefs and those who will represent the district in Lansing.

Our panel of Ben Ambrose (House District 2), Kiel Reid (House District 88, Alan Swank (House District 43), and myself (State Senate District 31) engaged in an informative back-and-forth discussion of the issues and legislation that are important to the men and women who keep our communities safe.

I know it's confusing.

The maps for your U.S. Representative, Michigan State Representative and State Senate districts regularly change. Lines often split based on population rather than regional names like, "Ferrysburg, Jenison, or Overisel." That can make it confusing for anyone!

I'd like to try and make it easier for you to know in which U.S. and State district you live. Click on this link, https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/ and you will find several options to help answer questions, such as: Am I registered to vote? and What's on my ballot? Simply click on the "Your Voter Information" tab at the top of the page and enter your information. You'll then be able to view your ballot including U.S. and State districts, local races and ballot issues that apply to you specifically.
