Hollis Fire Rescue serves as the emergency response to all emergencies within the Town of Hollis. Hollis Fire-Rescue proudly protects 33 square miles with a population of 4,500, out of two stations and provides mutual aid to neighboring communities. Unfortunately an additional firefighter has died from injuries sustained at the fire in Searsmont. We continue to keep the firefighters and community in our thoughts during this difficult time.

The Office of State Fire Marshal is saddened to learn of the passing of 76-year-old Wayne Woodbury on Sunday morning June 14, 2026 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Searsmont Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury was among the many firefighters and emergency responders who responded to the May 15, 2026, fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont.

The Office of State Fire Marshal extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the members of the Searsmont Fire Department during this difficult time. The investigation into the Robbins Lumber fire remains ongoing.

Hollis Engine 2, Squad 61, Ambulance 1, and Utility 6 responded along with numerous off duty personnel. The patient was located approximately 1/4 mile from the road.
We were assisted by Waterboro fire with their UTV to transport the patient safely to an ambulance. Buxton fire responded with an ambulance to assist crews.

One person was seriously injured on the job in Hollis while performing work for a tree cutting company, according to officials. FULL STORY ⬇️

We mourn the loss of a dedicated firefighter tonight and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured

A firefighter is dead and several people are in serious and critical condition after a burning silo exploded at the Robbins Lumber mill in Searsmont, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal's Office. Click the link in the comments for more on this developing story.

We are heartbroken to share that a Maine Game Warden died this morning following a plane crash in Avon, near Schoolhouse Pond. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m.

This is a devastating loss for the Maine Warden Service, our Department, and the people of Maine. Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.
