Thank you to Low’s Variety for donating pizza and to Hollis Tommy’s Ice Cream for donating desert and the Bonny Eagle Transportation Department for safely bringing the kids for a visit and of course to the great staff at Hollis Elementary for allowing us another opportunity to have some fun interactions with the kids!

During this incident, fire department members worked collaboratively with Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
The fuel on the pavement was cleaned up with a combination of an absorbent and sand. There were 2 small areas found to have fuel on the dirt shoulder, both areas were excavated immediately removing contaminated soil. A responder from Maine DEP then tested the soil confirming the fuel had been recovered.
We would like to thank:

Hollis Fire Rescue and York County Emergency Management Agency have partnered to create York County's newest special response team: Technical Large Animal Rescue (TLAR) and we are looking for volunteers to join!
This specialized team is dedicated to providing safe, coordinated, and effective rescue operations for large animals--horses, cattle and livestock that may become entrapped, injured, or endangered in situations such as mud, ditches, water sources, trailer incidents and/or structural collapses. Large animals in emergency situations present challenges and this team is available for call out to support all first responder departments in York County and the surrounding communities. The team works in close coordination with licensed veterinarians, animal control agencies and mutual aid partners across the region.
Please see our flyer for more information and how to reach out.
