Land navigation is a critical skill in search and rescue operations. Over the weekend, SBSSAR members sharpened their navigation skills using both traditional map and compass and GPS at Hollister Hills' Mudstone Ranch, enhancing the teams ability to find lost subjects in a variety of terrain.

A special thank you to San Benito County Search & Rescue, who was deployed earlier today for a missing person at risk. After learning the circumstances of the matter, Search and Rescue developed a plan for a systematic search and successfully located the elderly lady.

Search and Rescue is comprised of volunteers from the community that work together as a unit and are trained for these type of incidents. Thank you to the team of individuals for their efforts today on a moments notice.
