Despite the backlash over data centers, the city seems to have completely underestimated the desire of the people to be heard on this subject.

The claim is that they were bumped by the hotel from the larger space they initially requested. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but it seems unlikely in a city the size of Springfield but there isn't a facility that can accommodate more than the 198 people this particular space will allow.

I'm sitting at number 248 on the wait list and I've watched at least 25 or 30 people come in behind me. At this point, they are taking reservations for the September 1st event which means it may be full by the end of the day.

As you can see I'm including the QR code for the city's public comment submission form so you can share it with friends and family. I will also include the link in the comments below.

This issue is too big to sit out on the sidelines.

Show up. Speak up.

These centers drain already taxed water reserves. They impact over-burdened electrical grids, he usually eliminating our capacity to accommodate natural occurrences, risking blackouts and the inevitable deaths that always come with them. That's not even accounting so the ways they impact utility rates for our already strained wallets.

And then there is the simple fact that they destroy everything they touch. If don't preserve the Ozarks now, our children and grandchildren may never know it's beauty.

Dolly Parton has died at 80, born so poor that the doctor who delivered her was paid in a sack of cornmeal, and she spent the fortune she built giving away more than 200 million books and helping fund the vaccine that pulled the world out of a pandemic.

She grew up in a one-room cabin on a Tennessee riverbank, the fourth of twelve kids, in a house with no electricity and no plumbing. Her father was a sharecropper who never learned to read.

That last part never left her. In 1995 she started the Imagination Library, which mails a free book every month to any child under five who signs up, no questions asked about what the family earns. It has sent more than 200 million books to kids across the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland and Australia.

When wildfires burned families out of their homes in her home county in 2016, she did not send thoughts and prayers. She cut checks. A thousand dollars a month for six months to every household that lost its home, part of a relief effort that ran to $12.5 million.

Then, in 2020, she quietly gave a million dollars to researchers at Vanderbilt working on the coronavirus. The official report on the Moderna vaccine credits the Dolly Parton COVID-19 Research Fund as a supporter. The girl who was too poor to afford a doctor grew up to help pay for the shot that protected millions of strangers.

She never made a show of asking who deserved it. Poor kids got the books. Burned-out families got the money. Sick people got the vaccine. To Dolly, a person in need was reason enough.

In a country that can barely agree on what day it is, she was the rare thing almost everyone could agree on. She never demanded you pass her political test before she'd help you. She just showed up, cornmeal roots and all, and treated everybody like they were worth the trouble.

She could have done what most people with her kind of money do, which is buy a bigger version of everything they already own. Instead she spent thirty years making sure a child she would never meet had something to read.

She died peacefully at home in Nashville, her nephew Bryan Seaver announced.

The last book she paid for is already in the mail.

Celebrate today.

Tomorrow, we get back to work.

The defeat of Amendments 4 and 5 was a tremendous victory—but our work isn't finished.

Missourians are once again fighting to protect the initiative petition process and defend the constitutional rights voters have already spoken on. There are important elections ahead, and there is still much to do between now and November.

If the last month proved anything, it's this:

When this club comes together, there is nothing we can't accomplish.

I'm incredibly proud to stand beside each of you, and I can't wait to see what we'll accomplish next.

Let's keep the momentum going. 💙

We did it!

Over the last month, Taney County Democrats accomplished something incredible.

☀️ We held a successful fundraiser in a 112° heat index and raised over $1,000 to replenish our account after the expense of fighting harmful ballot measures.

🗳️ Even more importantly, Missouri voters decisively rejected Amendments 4 and 5.

None of this happened by accident.

It happened because our members showed up. You volunteered. You donated. You brought friends. You had difficult conversations. You put out signs. You spoke at events. You knocked on doors. You believed that ordinary people can still make an extraordinary difference.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you.

Take a moment to celebrate what we've accomplished together.

We did this.

Yaaaaasssss!!!! Amendments 4 & 5 bit the dust! Take the night to celebrate because the work starts again tomorrow.

Time to get down to business working to get our Democratic candidates in office. We've seen how well things have gone with the other side in charge. It hasn't been pretty.

An $8 billion dollar budget surplus has now become a $2 billion deficit. Schools are dropping to 4-day weeks. Teachers are among the lowest paid in the country.

Instead of fixing it, these Republican politicians have spent the last year and a half undoing what we the voters have stood for and then trying to take away our voice when we had the audacity to complain about it. No more! Let's get some fresh faces into office.

Time for candidates who will listen to the voters and do what it takes to support the working people of Missouri!
