Great way to start the week at the shelter today! 🐾
We are thrilled to announce that Olaf and Newton are heading to HFLCS! Keep an eye out—they will be available for adoption at PetSmart in Springfield on a future Saturday. Stay tuned for dates!
We also had a very busy and successful day of adoptions at the shelter! A huge congratulations to Dixie, Diego, and Carlos on finding their new homes.
We are especially happy for our long-term resident, Charles! He has been patiently waiting for his furever home while being fostered by our wonderful volunteer, Tracy. We are so grateful to Tracy for all the love and care she provided during his stay, and also grateful to Whitney for continuing to network Charles and never giving up on our sweet gentleman! 🐶💕🌟🎉👏💖

It was a fantastic day for the animals of Taney County, both in and out of the shelter! 🐾

A massive thank you to Voices for Taney County Animals for hosting dual adoption events today at Tractor Supply in Hollister and Petco in Branson. We are so grateful to Jessica and Whitney for their hard work coordinating with our amazing volunteers to make these events happen!

Back at the shelter we had a busy day as well—6 dogs and 3 cats were successfully transported to Snip City for their spay/neuter procedures.

And, for the best news of all: Chuck and Bentley have been adopted! We are so happy to see these two head off to their forever homes. 🏡❤️

A Note on Compassion: The Truth About "Owner Surrenders"
•There is a common misconception that every dog that comes to us as an "owner surrender" has been neglected or abandoned because they weren't wanted. We see it often in comments, and we want to gently challenge that narrative.
•Today, we have a group of beautiful souls who have recently arrived in our care. They are gentle, they are well-behaved, and it is clear they were deeply loved. Their previous owner passed away, leaving them without the only home they have ever known.
•Why this matters:
•Life is unpredictable: Sometimes, the hardest decision a person—or their family—has to make is finding a new path for a pet when circumstances change drastically and unexpectedly.
•Surrender is an act of love: Choosing to reach out to a rescue/shelter ensures that these dogs have a safe transition rather than ending up in a situation where they might not be understood or cared for.
•They aren't "broken": These dogs aren't here because of behavioral issues or because they were unloved. They are here because they lost their person. They are grieving, just as we would.
•When we talk about owner surrenders, let's lead with empathy rather than judgment. We never know what kind of story brought a dog through our doors. For these sweet dogs, their story is one of deep devotion to a human who is no longer here.
•Our goal now is to honor that love by finding them the next best thing: a home where they will be just as cherished as they were before.
•If you have the room in your heart and your home to provide a soft place to land for these dogs, please reach out. They have so much love left to give. 🐾💕🌟

Big hearts and busy hands at the shelter today! ❤️🐾
While we didn't have any adoptions to celebrate this time, we had some wonderful wins!

Reunions: We are so happy to report that 2 of our dogs were reunited with their families today! There is truly no better feeling than helping pets get back home.

Safe Travels: Our sweet friend River has been transferred to the Branson Humane Society. We are so excited for his next chapter and look forward to hearing how he is doing!

Health & Wellness: Our team was hard at work coordinating and transporting to Snip City spay/neuter clinic where 6 dogs and 3 cats were spayed/neutered! We are proud to be doing our part in reducing pet overpopulation.

Thank you to everyone who supports our mission—whether you’re sharing our posts, donating, or cheering us on from afar. Every bit of support helps us care for these animals while they wait for their forever homes.
