Marshall County Schools The Marshall County School District is a rural district made up of ten schools.

Those schools are: Byhalia Elementary, Middle, and High School, Galena, H.W Byers Elementary, H.W Byers High, Mary Reid, Potts Camp, and the Eddie Dixon CTE building. We are proud to celebrate excellence in Marshall County Schools! 🎉

Congratulations to our two newest National Board Certified Teachers, Kristy Pannell and Jennifer Lemons, on earning the highest professional distinction in education. This achievement represents an extraordinary commitment to students, reflective practice, and professional growth.

Both employees teach 2nd grade at Mary Reid Elementary School. They are pictured here with Board President Kerry Hale, Superintendent Dr. Carrie Skelton, Principal Kasie Teel, and National Board Mentor Heather Joyner.

The Marshall County School District will reopen for students on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. We understand there are still some without utilities or other extenuating circumstances.

* You will receive follow-up communication from the school level regarding return to school, and how the school can best work with you in these situations.
* If you need assistance, please reach out to your school.
* We will provide you with any resources we have available to us.
* Students will not need a school uniform until further notice.

On Monday, February 9, 2026 the Marshall County School District will have a professional development day for all staff. We will reassess road conditions on Monday, with plans for students to return on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Parents will receive more information regarding school reopening and after school activities.

February 16, 2026 and April 6, 2026 will be scheduled makeup days for students and staff.

The Marshall County School District will be closed Thursday (2/5/26) and Friday (2/6/26) due to dangerous road conditions and power outages. We continue to pray for communities and families impacted by this storm.

The Marshall County School District will be closed through Wednesday, February 4, 2026, due to dangerous road conditions and the number of families still being impacted by power outages. We hope everyone is safe throughout the lasting impacts of this storm. We will continue to assess conditions, and provide additional updates as we are able to do so.
