The Port of Miami just got a little clearer—and a little calmer. New no-wake and speed restriction signs are now in place and enforced to enhance safety for commercial traffic, recreational boaters, and critical port infrastructure. Remember: slow is smooth, smooth is fast—especially in restricted waters.

Big thanks to the crew of CGC HUDSON and the team at ANT Fort Lauderdale for getting these crucial signs posted and aiding in keeping South Florida’s waterways safe and mission-ready!

From earning advancements, completing a wave of new certifications, to tackling every discrepancy response and servicing task across our AOR with professionalism and drive. Their momentum reflects the very best of Coast Guard operational excellence.

What stands out most is the attitude behind the mission. This team shows up ready to work, supports each other, and takes pride in every aid they service, from buoys and daybeacons to ranges, ensuring the Maritime Transportation System is safe for all mariners.

What is even cooler is that she achieved this milestone alongside her husband, MKCS McGuigan, who also advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer today. Today, we remember.

On this day 24 years ago, our nation was forever changed. We pause to honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the families who continue to carry the weight of that tragedy.

As members of the Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Fort Lauderdale, we are reminded of our duty to serve with courage, commitment, and compassion—values that were shown in their purest form on September 11, 2001.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸⚓️

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the resilience of the American spirit. We remember the first responders, everyday heroes, including the brave civilian mariners who aided in the evacuation, and all those who answered the call of duty. On that day, and in the days that followed, Coast Guard men and women, like so many others, stood ready to protect our nation. We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding our shores and protecting our people.

This week ANT Fort Lauderdale focused on sharpening critical skills that ensure our team is always ready to respond. We completed our annual First Aid and CPR certifications, reinforcing lifesaving knowledge that could make all the difference in an emergency. The crew also conducted flare training, practicing with essential distress signaling equipment used at sea.

Training like this is just as vital as maintaining aids to navigation—it ensures our team is prepared to protect mariners, respond effectively, and keep our waterways safe.
