We will close town hall today at 1:30 so our employees may attend the viewing and funeral of Martha Dodson. Please remember her family and friends today as she is laid to rest. She will be greatly missed.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of former Hollywood Volunteer Firefighter Martha Dodson. Her service to the community will never be forgotten. She will be missed by her fellow volunteers and family here at the town. Please remember her family and friends during this time. Visitation will be Wednesday 2:30 - 3:30 at Scottsboro Funeral home with a graveside service beginning at 4:00 at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.

We want to thank everyone who came out today for the parade and festivities in the park. Special thanks to the mayor and council as well as both police and fire departments and our clerks for working hard to make it happen. Everyone had a great time listening to some wonderful singers and pickers. We hope to have more fun days ahead! The workers enjoyed some fun afterwards as well!

PLEASE READ IN REGARD TO SATURDAY:
Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and towels for the kids as we will have a water slide! Live music, water slide, playground and bounce house no charge. Also, due to kind donations, the food (hot dog, chips, drink and little debbie) will also be free! We ask that you take only what you will eat so that everyone will be able to recieve food while it lasts.
PARKING: Parking is available behind the new fire department and across from the fire department on the railroad side. Please do not park directly in front of the fire department bay doors. Also, the community center is rented and we will mark off parking to the side of the community center for the family that has rented it. Do not park in areas taped off with caution tape. Do not park on the street.
See you tomorrow!!

Next Saturday, June 27th, we will commence with the parade, followed by live music, water slides, a bounce house, and additional activities at the park.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Due to the run-off election, the council meeting scheduled for June 16th has been rescheduled. The meeting will take place June 23rd beginning at 6:00 pm in the council chambers of the Hollywood Municipal building.

We need your input....

The Town of Hollywood will celebrate it's 130th birthday in 2027. We would like to mark this occassion with a community celebration. Years ago the town came together for what was known as "Hollywood Homecoming". They would bring food, have music, a parade and gather for laughs and stories.
The town would like to know if there would be community interest in a homecoming celebration or if the citizens have any suggestions. Please comment here if you have any ideas you would like to make known. We ask that you limit your comments to helpful suggestions. Thank you!

Happy Municipal Clerk's Week to all of the wonderful town and city clerks across Jackson County and in our neighboring towns. Today we celebrate our own master clerk Susanne Thompson and assistant clerk Maggie Seals!

May 3 through May 9, 2026 is the 57th Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week. Initiated in 1969 by IIMC and endorsed by all of its members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, the week is a time of celebration and reflection on the importance of the Clerk’s office. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation that officially declared Municipal Clerks Week the first full week of May. In 1994 and 1996, President Bill Clinton also signed proclamations confirming Municipal Clerks Week. (IIMC)
