Hollywood United Neighborhood Council (HUNC) stakeholders are encouraged to share their comments and concerns regarding the recent revocation of LAMC 41.18 enforcement areas, including the loss of designated 41.18 area(s) affecting the HUNC community.

The CD13 motion was submitted on August 11, 2026, and adopted by the Los Angeles City Council on August 18, 2026. HUNC was not advised of or engaged in consideration of the proposed changes prior to CD13’s submission of the motion.

The City of Los Angeles invites stakeholders to participate in the Neighborhood Council Elections playing a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient voting process.

Poll Worker Eligibility Requirements
Be 18 years of age or older by Election Day
Speak, read, and write English (Bilingual skills are desirable)
Provide their own transportation to and from the polling location
Submit an application by the deadline
Work the entire Election Day
Poll worker assignments will be based on operational needs, including, but not limited to, the expected voter turnout, election complexity, and language needs.

Candidates or their families cannot serve as poll workers in the candidate’s NC. Candidates are welcome to serve as a poll worker in other Neighborhood Councils within the City.

Deadline for submissions is 30 days before the NC election on which one wants to assist.

☎️ Should Californians have the right to reach a real person when they need customer service?

AB 1609, the proposed Right to Human Customer Service Act, would require certain large businesses to provide timely access to a human representative when requested. The bill would also require clear disclosure when customers are interacting with AI and greater visibility for customer-service phone numbers.

Other provisions include potential civil penalties for violations and exemptions for specified organizations and unforeseen circumstances.

AB 1609 has passed the State Assembly and advanced from the Senate Appropriations Committee on Aug. 13 with amendments. It remains proposed legislation and has not become law.

🚧 Overnight Closures on Northbound U.S. 101: Aug. 17–22

Caltrans will conduct overnight paving work through the Cahuenga Pass as part of the U.S. 101 Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

From Monday night, Aug. 17, through Saturday morning, Aug. 22, northbound U.S. 101 will be reduced to two lanes between Highland Avenue and SR-170. Up to three lanes may be closed beginning at 10 p.m.

The following northbound U.S. 101 on-ramps will also close overnight:

• Eastbound Universal Studios Boulevard
• Westbound Universal Studios Boulevard
• Westbound Ventura Boulevard

Friday night’s closures will continue later into Saturday morning, with some ramps closed until 11 a.m.

Drivers should expect delays, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Closure times are subject to change.

The Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) is mailing Rent Registry Tenant Notification letters containing a unique Property APN and Tenant Unit ID. These details allow you to review the rent amount your landlord reported to the City.

Before comparing amounts, check the effective date printed on the letter. Your current rent may be higher because the letter reflects the rent reported as of a specific date.

Important: Compare the letter with your base rent only. Do not include SCEP or registration fee surcharges when determining whether the amount is correct. The amount shown by LAHD is strictly the reported rent and does not include permissible add-ons.
