Yesterday, at approximately 3:03 P.M., Hollywood Fire Rescue responded to the 5900 block of Fillmore Street for a reported residential fire. Upon arrival, firefighters located a working fire that was quickly extinguished.

The fire was contained to a storage unit that had been added to the rear carport area and did not extend into the residence.

A Hollywood Fire Rescue Fire Inspector and the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene. The origin and cause of the fire remained under investigation.

A HERO HONORED! 🏆🌊

Wednesday afternoon, during the City of Hollywood Commission Meeting, Hollywood Ocean Rescue Lifeguard Marcelo Lorenzo was presented with the Life-Saving Award for his heroic actions while on vacation with his family in Aruba.

When a water excursion took a tragic turn, Marcelo immediately put his Ocean Rescue training into action to save his father, cousin, and aunt after they were thrown into the water. His courage, quick thinking, and lifesaving skills made all the difference when his family needed him most.
A special thank you to WSVN 7 News 7News for covering this incredible story and capturing the special moment as Marcelo was recognized for his heroic actions.

Hollywood Fire Rescue was proud to participate in the City of Hollywood’s annual BenWell Fair! Our team had a great time connecting with employees and sharing important lifesaving information through CPR and Stop the Bleed demonstrations.

Of course, there were plenty of swag items for everyone to grab, and our firefighters enjoyed checking out the many different vendors and activities throughout the event! Some favorites included the “drunk goggles” demonstration hosted by Hollywood Police Department and the chance to make fresh smoothies by riding a bike! 🚲🥤

Thank you to the City of Hollywood for another great event and for bringing everyone together for a fun and healthy day! 👏

A Day of Thanks in the City of Hollywood!

Yesterday afternoon, during the City of Hollywood Commission Meeting, Hollywood Fire Rescue members and staff from Memorial Health System were honored by the Hollywood Commission for their impactful community CPR programs and lifesaving efforts.

The members recognized received the Citizen’s Award of Merit, Meritorious Service Award, and Life-Saving Award for their dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of so many.

Please join us in congratulating Hollywood Fire Rescue Captain Evan Goodwin on successfully graduating from the Hollywood Police Department’s intensive three-week Basic SWAT School! 👏

Captain Goodwin is now a certified SWAT Medic, adding to the strength of Hollywood Fire Rescue’s SWAT Medic Program, which now has a total of four SWAT Medics ready to provide critical medical support during high-risk and rapidly evolving situations.

Congratulations to Captain Goodwin and all four graduates on this incredible accomplishment! Your discipline, teamwork, and commitment to public safety continue to make our community safer!

We loved welcoming a few special visitors to the station! The kids had the chance to tour the ladder truck, explore the engine, try on firefighter gear, and of course, take plenty of pictures with our firefighters! 📸🧑‍🚒
