REMINDER-NO LEAF PILES IN THE ROADWAY.

It's that time of year again and we are reminding residents of the following per Twp Ordinance. We have observed multiple locations where a hazardous condition has been created by blocking an entire roadway lane with leaf piles.

Do not place leaf piles in the road

Do not place leaf piles on sidewalks

If a resident hires a company for leaf cleanup, the company is responsible to remove the leaves.

Any questions of when your area will be picked up please contact Holmdel Public Works.

Any leaf pile violations should be forwarded to Holmdel Code Enforcement.

Update: This good boy was turned over to our local animal control who transported him to the Monmouth County SPCA. He is currently in good hands and being well taken care of, however, we are still trying to locate the owners.

The Holmdel Police Department needs your help with finding this dog’s owner. We were first alerted to a loose dog in the area of Holmdel Park on Friday and were finally able to catch him this morning. He is friendly but apprehensive, is not chipped, and appears to have been on his own for some time.

If you can help us in locating the owner of this dog, please contact Ptl. Joseph Disko, the police department’s Humane Law Enforcement Officer, at 732-946-4400.

Gas Ovens: A Source of CO

Generally, the confined space of a closed gas oven used for cooking does not produce enough carbon monoxide (CO) to present any dangers, unless it is used for several hours consecutively like when roasting a turkey. If you have a kitchen exhaust fan, use it; if not, crack a window for fresh air when using the gas oven for an extended period this Thanksgiving.

Last night, departments from surrounding Bayshore towns, Monmouth County, and Middlesex County came together to partake in tanker taskforce training. Some areas of town do not have hydrants and this taskforce is a vital part of making sure there is a water source for emergencies in that type of environment. Thank you to the instructors and those departments who participated.

11/15/2023

Good evening Holmdel,

We’ve reached the time of year we all love the most, Santa Private Deliveries. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING. We can not stress this enough. Our members work tirelessly to put this together and need your cooperation to make it run smoothly.

Holmdel Fire and Rescue Co. #2 has had such great success over the years with our private Santa deliveries that we will be continuing the tradition again this Holiday Season! Just as in years past we will only be providing this service to Holmdel residents. You must live within the borders of Holmdel for us to deliver to you. Santa will visit your house on the firetruck and deliver a special gift provided by you. Exterior visits only, Santa will not be coming into your home. Last year we changed a few things that allowed us to be more efficient and allowed us to still be available to provide fire coverage for the town at the same time. Holmdel will have three zones for deliveries (1, 2, &3). Each Zone has a specific weekend that we will be doing private home deliveries. Just like last year, gift drop off will be at 12 Crawfords Corner Road, Holmdel Fire Headquarters, located between the Holmdel Post Office and the PNC Bank Arts Center access road.

We have availability for 100 deliveries this year. Please know that because you may have participated in the past, does not guarantee you a spot for this upcoming year. Be sure to get your information back as soon as possible, We will NOT be taking any other requests after the 100 slots fill up. All gifts must be dropped off on the two designated times slots, Saturday November 25th from 12pm-4pm, or Wednesday November 29th from 6pm - 9pm. Please make sure your child's name is printed clearly on the gift so Santa can read it. We will only be visiting on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the month of December. If you plan on utilizing our service this year please note that the minimum donation is $50. These are private visits. This is NOT the same as our Santa tour through every street in town. Make sure you follow Holmdel Fire & Rescue Co. #2 on Facebook for updates on when we will be driving through town. Please see the attached Holmdel map, and the zones coinciding with your address.

Zone 1:
Friday December 1, 2023 6:30pm-9pm

Saturday December 16, 2023 12pm-4pm

Once you have read all this, understand it, and would like to participate, please email [email protected] with your full name, address and telephone number. Look for a response back within 72-96 hours. If you do not hear back please follow up with another email.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE FIREHOUSE or SEND A MESSAGE to our FACEBOOK inquiring about your submission request. All correspondence should be done via email.

UPDATE: As of 6:30 PM we are now closed. Thank you for your responses.

Last night, Holmdel First Aid Squad was dispatched to a citizen’s assist at Bell Works due to an accessibility lift malfunction. Use of our stair chair and duty crew were needed to assist none other than Rutgers Alumnus Eric LeGrand! Our members got to unexpectedly meet the New Jersey legend himself, and were more than happy to help out. Alongside the fire department, we were able to provide Mr. LeGrand the assistance required due to the malfunctioning of the lift. The timing of last night’s unfortunate circumstances couldn’t be more fitting, as we are looking into purchasing Stryker stair chairs that are designed to function going up AND down stairs with motorized treads, making it easier, safer, and more comfortable for our patients and volunteers to be moved on staircases. We hope to be able to add this unique piece of equipment to our ambulances in the near future. Eric LeGrand Holmdel Fire & Rescue Company #2
