The combination of low relative humidity, warm temperatures, gusty winds (switching from southwesterly to northwesterly mid-morning through early afternoon), and dry fuels will result in elevated fire weather conditions across portions of IA, MN, and WI, including the Holmen WI Area.

Please exercise caution with any activities that involve outdoor fires or create sparks, including campfires, grilling, operating large equipment, and improperly disposing of ci******es. Consider delaying permitted outdoor burning until conditions improve. Watch for local burn bans to be put into place if fire weather conditions remain elevated.

🚒 April Activity Summary:

April was another high-speed month for our team, with 110 calls for service. To put that in perspective, our year-to-date volume is running 26% higher than last year (a record setting year).

When we weren't out on calls, we were hitting the training grounds to stay sharp. Below are some of this months topics:

Structure Fire Ventilation: Mastering the art of "clearing the air."

Medication Reviews: Keeping our EMS skills razor-sharp.

Wildland Fire Operations: Prepping for the season ahead.

We also stayed proactive in the community, completing dozens of commercial fire inspections to keep our local businesses safe, and installing residential smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through an American Red Cross partnership.

Whether it’s response, training, or prevention, our mission remains the same: providing top-tier service to our neighbors. Thanks for your continued support!

VERY HIGH Fire Danger Conditions for the Holmen area and a majority of Wisconsin due to dry fuels, warming temperatures, and breezy conditions with winds gusting toward 30 mph.

Delay outdoor burning and recreational fires until more favorable weather conditions return.
