🇺🇸 Labor Day Closure Notice 🇺🇸

In observance of Labor Day, Holmes Beach City Hall will be closed Monday, September 7 as we join communities across the country in recognizing the hard work and contributions of America’s workforce.

🏛️ City Hall will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8.
We wish our residents, visitors, and community a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Labor Day! ❤️🤍💙

🗑️ LABOR DAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE

Due to the Labor Day holiday, this week’s collection schedule will be pushed back by one day.

Tuesday, September 8: Trash
Wednesday, September 9: Recycling
Thursday, September 10: Yard Waste

Normal collection schedules will resume Friday, September 11.

Please have your items out and ready for collection on the appropriate day.

💧 WATER MAIN & 56TH STREET PROJECT UPDATE

Manatee County Utilities has notified the City of Holmes Beach that the connection of the relocated County drinking water main is currently scheduled for late Sunday night, September 13, into early Monday morning.

The overnight schedule is intended to minimize impacts on residents and businesses.

What to expect:

• Water service may be temporarily interrupted for up to 9 hours while the connection is completed.

• Manatee County’s contractor, Harris-McBurney, will provide affected properties with official notice at least 48 hours before the shutdown.

• The schedule is subject to change by Manatee County Utilities.

• The attached map provided by Manatee County shows the anticipated shutdown area.

Once the new water main connection is complete and the existing main is removed, stormwater work within the intersection can continue. Approximately an additional week and a half of work is anticipated after September 13.

The intersection will remain closed for the safety of the traveling public and work crews. Recommended routes to access nearby businesses and municipal buildings are also included.

🚁 Mosquito Control Update

You may notice a helicopter flying over the area tonight. Weather permitting, the Manatee County Mosquito Control District will be conducting aerial mosquito control operations to help manage mosquito populations and protect public health.

The City of Holmes Beach is making it easier for residents to recycle old electronics responsibly. FREE electronic waste collection bins are available year-round at convenient City locations.

📍 Collection Bin Locations:
• In front of City Hall
• Behind City Hall
• In front of the Code Compliance Office

✅ Accepted items include laptops, desktops, servers, monitors, phones, tablets, iPads, printers, copiers, audio-visual equipment, scanners, switches, and manufacturing equipment.

🚫 Please note: Tubed TVs and old CRT monitors are NOT accepted due to lead content in the tubing.

💧 WATER OFF / PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE

Manatee County Utilities has issued an important water service notice affecting portions of Holmes Beach.

Water Shutoff:
📅 Monday, August 24, 2026
⏰ 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM
Reason: Water main tie-in

The affected addresses include:
• 3200 and 3909 East Bay Drive
• 600 through 752 Manatee Avenue
• 12202 through 12698 Manatee Avenue W
• Harbour Isle Subdivision

Once water service is restored, a Precautionary Boil Water Notice will take effect on Tuesday, August 25.

Residents in the affected areas should boil all water used for drinking or cooking. A rolling boil for one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may also be used.

The precautionary notice will remain in effect until bacteriological testing confirms the water is safe, which normally takes 24–48 hours. A rescission notice will be issued when the advisory is lifted.

What looks like a simple line in the sand can actually be a prop scar—a trench carved through a seagrass bed by a boat propeller. Unlike the grass in your yard, seagrass grows slowly, and these scars can take years to recover.

When you’re on the water:
• Stay in marked channels whenever possible.
• Slow down in shallow areas.
• Trim up your motor to avoid contact with the bottom.
• If you run aground, stop and push or pole your boat instead of powering through.

These small actions help protect the underwater meadows that provide habitat for fish, crabs, scallops, sea turtles, and countless other marine species while keeping our waters clean and our shorelines healthy.
