The governing body of Jackson County will meet today, Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the courthouse for the purpose of discussion and answering questions of taxpayers regarding the proposed use of all funds and the amount of ad valorem tax needed to fulfill the 2027 budget. Detailed budget information is available at the County Clerk's office and will be available at the meeting.

The Board of Commissioners inspected the recently completed chip seal overlay on Q4 Road north of Holton and 214 Road east of highway 75 during their meeting today. It was concluded that the overlay did not meet acceptable standards and the county will be withholding final payment to the contractor until a solution can be determined.
