Jackson Heights USD 335

Jackson Heights USD 335 Jackson Heights is a PK-12 school located five miles north of Holton, KS. We are the best school in Northeast Kansas.

In 1969, the building which once housed one of the nine Atlas nuclear missile silos in Northeast Kansas, was converted into Jackson Heights High School. The site had housed the missile base from 1961 until its closure in 1964 and then sat empty for five years. During that time, local school districts in the nearby towns of Soldier, Circleville, Netawaka and Whiting consolidated to form North Jacks

on Unified School District 335. A patron, Duane Wilson, then purchased the retired base from the federal government for the sum of $1.00 on behalf of the new school district. With a few minor modifications, the base became a high school and opened for classes in August 1969. In 1975, the construction of a second building was completed to accommodate the district's elementary and middle school students. With the passage of a $3 million bond issue on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, the construction of new classrooms and over-all facilities improvements began at Jackson Heights High School. This was the first major renovation since the school's opening and relocates middle school classrooms into the high school building.

Through six guided simulations led by a trained literacy specialist, you'll gain firsthand insight into the daily challenges faced by students with dyslexia, ADHD, and dysgraphia—and leave with greater empathy and understanding.

Tonight’s board meeting will begin with a special board meeting at 5:30 PM. The regular board meeting will start directly afterward — meaning the regular meeting will begin before the usual 7:00 PM start time.

🐍 Join the Jackson Heights Family! Open Enrollment is OPEN.

It’s June, and that means State Open Enrollment is almost over! If you know a student who wants to become a Cobra, now is the time to act.

Jackson Heights USD #335 is an open-enrollment district, and we would love to welcome new students who are in good standing. However, many of our classes are nearing capacity. If you wait until August, we may already be full in certain grade levels.

📅 State Open Enrollment runs through June.

✅ Any student in good standing will be enrolled—as long as our class caps have not been reached.

📝 Interested in joining the Jackson Heights family? Please fill out the attached form and return it as soon as possible.

Tough conditions, great results! 🏆🌧️

Post:
It was a rainy start for the JHHS Trap Team at the Quail Forever Pre-State Tournament in Baldwin, but the sun came out, and our shooters brought the heat! ☀️

This was a highly competitive tournament with the top teams in the state, and all FIVE of our varsity shooters hit over 90/100. 💥

Highlights:

Jace shot a blistering 98/100 to tie for 2nd place overall and brought home the 2nd place trophy! 🥈

Jace also earned a 50-in-a-row patch.

Teagan, Evan S., and Gage all earned 25-in-a-row patches.

Michael R. won the Annie Oakley shoot and a $50 Visa gift card! 🎯💳

We are still waiting on official team results, but we believe we finished 4th—just inches away from a team trophy.

We are peaking at the right time for the State in mid-June. Great job, team! 👏
