π’ PUBLIC NOTICE: Updated Fire Department Response Charges
The New Marion Volunteer Fire Department is notifying residents of Shelby and Otter Creek Townships that the Indiana Department of Homeland Security has approved updated charges for fire department responses, as outlined in Indiana Code 36β8β12β16.
This serves as our official public notice of those updated fees.
π What Counts as a Call for Service?
Under Indiana Code, a βcall for serviceβ includes (but is not limited to):
β’ Fire responses of any type
β’ Rescue operations (vehicle extrication, rope rescue, etc.)
β’ Wildland fires
β’ Structure fires
β’ Vehicle fires
β’ Hazardous materials responses
β’ Gas leaks
β’ Fire alarm activations
π² Updated Fee Schedule
β’ Initial response (fire apparatus): $500 per vehicle
β’ Initial response (command vehicle): $200 per vehicle
β’ Onβscene fire apparatus: $400 per vehicle, per hour
β’ Onβscene command vehicle: $200 per vehicle, per hour
β’ Expendable materials & cleanup agents: Actual cost
β’ Debris/chemical cleanup & disposal: Actual cost
π Insurance Billing
As in the past, property ownersβ insurance providers will be billed when applicable. These fees are published as required by Indiana Code for public awareness.
