Heber Dunes SVRA welcomed a group of visitors from the Rotary Club representing several European countries, including France, Croatia, Poland, Ireland, Türkiye, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic.

The group enjoyed exploring the park’s 343 acres aboard RZRs while learning about the unique desert environment. Senior Park Aide Maritza Mendoza interpreted the park’s natural resources, found within the dunes. State Park Peace Officer Caroline Obayashi provided an overview of OHV rules, safety practices, and responsible recreation to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

What’s your ride of choice?

Off-roading comes in all forms, sand buggies, dirt bikes, quads, Jeeps, trucks, and everything in between.

We see all types of vehicles out here enjoying the dunes and making the most of the outdoors. We enjoy seeing everyone recreating responsibly and safely.

These small, venomous rattlesnakes are known for their distinctive sideways movement and excellent camouflage, often burying themselves in the sand with only the scales above their eyes visible. They prefer to avoid people and will usually retreat if given space.

Please observe all wildlife from a safe distance. Rattlesnakes, like all plants and animals in California State Parks, are protected and play an important role in the desert ecosystem.
