Tonight we were joined by the Homer City Cub Scout Post 1024.

They met with a few of our members and discussed a large variety of topics. Topics covered include:
-What is a fire department?
-What does it mean to be a non profit?
-What are volunteers?
-How do volunteer fire departments make money?
-What kind of equipment do firefighters use?
-General fire safety topics including stop, drop, and roll
-Meeting places
-and more

After all the talks were done, they were allowed to mingle around the station, crawl into fire trucks, look around, and ask any questions they might have had.

After being interrupted twice, we all sat down in the meeting room for a review, and everybody was given a goodie bag as a thanks for attending and paying attention.

We finished out with a group photo op at the end.

Thanks to all of our Cub Scouts, their pack leaders, and their parents for braving the storm and coming out to see us. We love sharing information about what we do with everyone.

Hopefully they all learned a thing or two and will consider supporting our department in the future!

If you've been following the fire department for any amount of time, you've probably seen the name Nick or the business Nick's Bullseye Archery and Fi****ms mentioned a time or two (or fifty).

Nick Ringler is the owner of Nick's Bullseye Archery and Fi****ms. He has always been a huge supporter of our fire department. He's been our sole distributor for fi****ms on all of our tickets and at our bashes. We couldn't do it without his support.

Because of that, we invited Nick and his family to our general meeting tonight. While they were here, we presented them with a plaque thanking Nick for everything he's done for us. The plaque is nothing compared to what Nick has done for us, but we wanted to at least show him that we appreciate everything he does for us.

If you don't do so already, please go see Nick. He's a great man with a wonderful store. He and his employees are phenomenal.

Thank you to Nick for everything you do for us, to the employees for helping us and Nick out, and to Nick's family for putting up with all the time we steal him.

We would like to send a warm heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Scherf and the Chick-Fil-A leader academy group from Homer Center high school for the mugs that they designed, crafted, and delivered to the fire station yesterday. If you’ve spent any time around a fire station you know that there are 2 things that are always appreciated. A good coffee mug and treats. On behalf of all of us at the HCVFD, we wish Mrs. Scherf, her family, the Chick-Fil-A leader academy and their families, Homer Center school staff, children, and familes of a very happy and safe holiday season and a very Merry Christmas!
