Tonight we were joined by the Homer City Cub Scout Post 1024.
They met with a few of our members and discussed a large variety of topics. Topics covered include:
-What is a fire department?
-What does it mean to be a non profit?
-What are volunteers?
-How do volunteer fire departments make money?
-What kind of equipment do firefighters use?
-General fire safety topics including stop, drop, and roll
-Meeting places
-and more
After all the talks were done, they were allowed to mingle around the station, crawl into fire trucks, look around, and ask any questions they might have had.
After being interrupted twice, we all sat down in the meeting room for a review, and everybody was given a goodie bag as a thanks for attending and paying attention.
We finished out with a group photo op at the end.
Thanks to all of our Cub Scouts, their pack leaders, and their parents for braving the storm and coming out to see us. We love sharing information about what we do with everyone.
Hopefully they all learned a thing or two and will consider supporting our department in the future!
