Information the Ford Museum has on the old tank that sat in front of the American Legion Hut for so many years:
It was moved to Homer around 1949-1950 from the Texas National Guard and remained here until 1987-1988. Claiborne Parish School Board Superintendent, Gary Jones, was working with the National Guard on the Municipal Airport at that time. He met with Mayor Joe Michael to donate the tank to the Jackson Barracks Military Museum in New Orleans where it was restored and is now.

The well-known saying, “It takes a village,” truly resonates with our experience at the Museum. The continued operation and efficiency of the Ford Museum rely on the collective efforts and generosity of our community. Thank you so much for your kindness!

GIVE FOR GOOD STARTS APRIL 21ST!!!
The Herbert S. Ford Museum is not just remembering history—we are preserving the spirit of our nation 250 years in the making. This year we are asking our community to step forward and support The Museum through Give for Good. To donate, you need to go online and make a donation with your credit card. To do this go to www.giveforgoodnla.org. Find the Ford Museum logo and click DONATE. Select AMOUNT. Add amount to your CART. CHECKOUT. Create a DONOR PROFILE. SUBMIT. If you have any questions or need assistance, you may call the museum at 318-927-9190.
