Banks County Elementary School Celebrates 2026–2027 Teacher and Support Staff of the Year!

Banks County Elementary School is proud to honor two exceptional staff members who bring extraordinary passion, heart, and dedication to our classrooms and school community every day. Ms. Clarissa Duncan has been named BCES Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Anna Jordan has been selected as BCES Support Staff Member of the Year for 2026–2027!

District leaders, including Superintendent Dr. Ann Hopkins and Deputy Superintendent Michael Williams, recently visited BCES alongside school administrators to surprise both recipients and join in the celebration.

Principal Dr. Leigh Ann Perry expressed her deep gratitude for both honorees:

"Clarissa Duncan is a remarkable music teacher. Her love for her students and passion for teaching music shines through each day! She inspires her students and helps them develop their talents. Her dedication to the music program at BCES has made a lasting impact in the lives of children. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

"Anna Jordan is a phenomenal counselor and means so much to BCES. She has a special way of making students feel seen, supported, and valued. Her love and commitment to helping children is evident in all she does and is making a difference in their lives. Congratulations! You are so deserving of this honor."

Both Ms. Duncan and Mrs. Jordan will be formally celebrated during the system recognition banquet in October, where the Banks County District Teacher of the Year will also be announced.

Please join the entire BCES community in congratulating Ms. Clarissa Duncan and Mrs. Anna Jordan on this remarkable achievement!

Let’s PACK THE DEN this September, Banks County!

Hey families, we need your help! This month, we are hoping to break our all-time record for the highest September attendance ever.

What does perfect attendance look like for the month of September? We are aiming for "bell-to-bell" days, which means helping our students be there every day, on time and all day!

To celebrate everyone's hard work, every student who hits perfect attendance this September gets a special "Pack the Den" window decal, thanks to our friends at 214 Realty.

We also have some exciting prizes and giveaways lined up for students.

For every student with perfect attendance for the month of September, they will be entered into a drawing for:
*Athletic Pass for a Family of 4: Good for free entry to all home sports events for the whole school year.
*October Fast Pass: A special pass to skip the drop-off and pick-up lines next month (BCPS and BCES families only).
*Weekly Prizes: We will be giving away fun surprises at each school every single week.

Thank you so much for partnering with us, cheering our students on, and helping us make every day count.

After learning how readers use clues and what they already know to make an inference, students got creative in Mrs. Autry and Ms. Hulsey's 4th grade classes and built their own robots and aliens using some yummy treats!
Learning is always a little more fun when you can eat it afterwards!

Students in Mrs. Morris's 4th grade class wrote futuristic stories and brought their imaginations to life by creating alien and robot lifeforms to match. By using clues from their own writing and drawing conclusions about how their creatures would survive, speak, and interact, they turned a reading skill into a masterpiece.
