The City and surrounding counties are under a BURN BAN. Do not burn anything!! Keep watching your local EMA updates on the wildfires and evacuation plans in process for certain areas. Stay informed!

🔥 Wildfire Update – Georgia

Yesterday, the Georgia Forestry Commission responded to 46 new wildfires, burning 1,080 acres statewide.

This does not include the Pineland Rd Fire, which has now grown to an estimated 8,911 acres and remains 10% contained.

With ongoing drought conditions and no significant rainfall in sight, wildfire activity remains elevated across Georgia.

⚠️ Safety Reminders:
🚫 If you do not need to be in or near an active fire area, please stay out
🚁 No drones — flying drones near wildfires is illegal and can ground firefighting aircraft
🚗 Use caution on roadways where smoke may be present
📢 Follow all instructions from local officials, including road closures and any potential evacuations

Every call, every acre, and every response matters — and so does prevention.

Fighting fire. Protecting forests. Serving Georgia.

PLEASE SHARE - The City Auditorium will be open to the community starting Monday, January 26th at 8am through Sunday, February 1st due to severe cold weather conditions. Members of the community are asked to use the entrance at the Police Department entrance if it is after 5pm due to the City Hall entrance being locked after 5pm during the week. The City Auditorium will be open 24/7 to the community during this time frame. The City Auditorium will also be monitored by a Police Officer for everyone's safety. Anyone who does not have heat or needs someone where to be during this severe cold weather, please come and be warm.

***ATTENTION *** PLEASE SHARE ***

The City Auditorium will be open for anyone needing shelter from the cold, beginning Sunday at 6pm until Monday morning TBA (depending on weather).

It still appears on the forecast to be showing snow tomorrow. You should try and prepare today. Just small amounts of snow can impact the power and our roads.

When weather conditions become hazardous, our goal is for everyone to be safe.

-Drive slow, leave earlier.
- If power is lost, treat all intersections as a four-way stop.
-Only drive at dark if it’s an emergency.
-Give emergency services and public works crews time and space to do their jobs safety.

Check on your neighbors, especially elderly. Not everyone has heat.

Stay safe and warm.
