Having worked in higher education for over 20 years, she knows the value of a solid K-12 education and will help us continue our tradition of excellence. Welcome Julie!

Please join us in welcoming Andrew Seale to the Foundation board. Andrew is an Edgewood dad and dentist at Seale Family Dental. He brings prior board experience to help us make our schools “the best they can be.” We are *all smiles* to have Andrew serve with us!
HCSF is pleased to announce five new board members this year. Anna Chancellor joins as our Assistant Treasurer, and we are fortunate to have her accounting and finance expertise. The Chancellors are an Edgewood family with their oldest daughter in 1st grade. Welcome Anna!
HCSF is proud of all of our 2022 graduates and glad to honor them with special scholarships. Taylin Galloway was selected by her varsity softball teammates for the Aniah Blanchard Memorial Scholarship. Taylin “is an outstanding teammate, always encouraging and bringing positivity to those around her,” much like Aniah. The Homewood community remembers and honors Aniah - thank you for the generous community support that makes this scholarship possible. If you would like to donate to this scholarship fund, please contact the Foundation or visit the link in bio.
Our next scholarship winner from the Class of 2022 is Dalia Almansoob. She was awarded the Bari Roseman Scholarship in memory of our former social studies teacher and department chair Bari Roseman. Like Mrs. Roseman, Dalia has a passion for exploring diversity and making a difference. Good luck Dalia as you start this new chapter!
Each year the varsity cheer squad selects one of their own for the Caitlin Creed Scholarship. This award was created by Dr. and Mrs. Creed to honor the memory of their daughter Caitlin, who loved HHS cheerleading and lost her life at an early age. The 2022 scholarship went to Katelyn Zinn. HCSF is excited for Katelyn and all that is ahead!
Many of you remember “Miss A” who taught at HMS for 29 years and expanded opportunities for female students to learn and compete. The Jody Atchison Scholarship honors the life of Coach Atchison. This year’s winner is Tiye Jamison who “exemplifies what it means to be a successful student athlete.” Thank you to the Atchison family and friends for making this scholarship possible.
It’s back-to-school time, and that includes the Class of 2022. Emily Dunn is headed to Ole Miss and is the winner of the Jodi Newton Scholarship, created in 2008 in honor of HCS’s former superintendent Dr. Jodi Newton. Emily served as SGA President last year and played varsity softball. She is described as “a leader on and off the field.” The Foundation wishes her all the best!
Congratulations to the 2022 Teacher Impact Award winners:
Kristen Hardison - Edgewood
Riley Tully - Hall-Kent
Karen Cooper - Shades Cahaba
Leslie Tanner - HMS
Sean McBride - HHS

Make sure to have your tissues ready!
Ask any Foundation board member ‘what’s the most challenging part of Homewood Grown?’
💯: Getting everyone seated! There’s so much energy upon arrival (the band, visiting with friends and neighbors…💕)
But once all guests are at their tables, it’s time to eat!
For two years in a row, The Happy Catering Company has served a delicious meal. Bill Bouloukos told us that after the 2021 Homewood Grown, they booked events from HG attendees who loved their food. This year, they served 640 guests 🙌🏻!!
We are so inspired by how our community supports local businesses, who in turn support our community ♥️.
We can’t get enough of these Homewood Grown pictures! It was the biggest (and, we think, the best) ever—from the festive jazz band to the inspiring speaker (Debbie Fly, you are a treasure) and, of course, the five deserving Teacher Impact Award winners.
Thank you to our generous sponsors and to everyone who purchased a ticket. With your support, we raised nearly $115,000. We can’t wait to see those dollars at work in classrooms all across the system. Oh, what a night!
