The Memorial Day Murph Challenge has become an annual tradition, where people all over the country complete the grueling 'Murph' workout (a 1-mile run, 300 squats, 200 pushups, 100 pullups, and another 1-mile run) as a way of honoring the memory of those who lost their lives while serving in the Armed Forces.

This is the USGS gauge for Shades Creek at The Cresant. Yesterday it peaked at 18.21 ft. We know at 12 ft the creek leaves it’s banks and at 16 ft it reaches the lowest apartment.

Alabama Power is about to cut the power off to the Crescent Apartments. HFD & Alabama Power are concerned about electrical hazards in the complex. If you are a resident and need immediate help, call 911 and give us your location.

Homewood is hosting a 40 hour Apparatus Operator Class through the Alabama Fire College this week. The class portion is being done at the Homewood Library and the hands on portion at the Homewood Drill Field. There are students from Homewood, Hoover, Birmingham, Fairfield, McAdory, Bessemer, Montevallo, Fultondale, and Talladega Fire Departments.
