Friends, we want to encourage all who have a vested interest in Citrus County, especially the increase of homelessness, to attend this wonderful Meet & Greet hosted by League of Women Voters of Citrus County.

In attendance will be all candidates (current and seeking) for District 2 & 4 for Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, as well as Barbara Venditto from Mid Florida Homeless Coalition, Inc. 🎉

With the homeless count growing daily for children, families, elderly, Veterans, and many more, we encourage you to make time to come out, and meet the people who have the ability to make changes. Get to know them and understand what each candidate represents. ❤️ We know there are a lot of things happening in the county right now, but we want to encourage you all to keep seeking answers and spreading HOPE in the humanity we need. ❤️

Oh goodness, we almost missed sharing, its SHOWER TO EMPOWER FRIDAY. Great day for people's lives to change. If you are unhouses we highly recommend getting to Daystar Citrus this morning and start your journey to a brighter future through the love of everyone there. ❤️

Also- Daystar is always looking for VOLUNTEERS. And their thrift store of multiple spaces is the BEST treasure hunts. 🎉

Pssstttt....hey friends, did you know we are hosting a Hot Weather Protection Drive over at Basics United Homeless Outreach ? We have 11 community partners all shown on the flyer collecting donations!

But tonight, as I was struggling to figure out what's for dinner-I thought you might be too! So hey!

Introducing Two Guys from Italy Restaurant and Sports Lounge . Local to Homosassa they have some of the yummiest meals and have been involved with helping us at the shelter for several years now. Give them a call, order a quick bite, and if able when picking up, drop off a donation to the hot weather protection drive! Bug spray is an urgent need 😉

Beginning tonight, our Let’s Feed Citrus distribution at Calvary Church is moving to its brand-new Thursday after-work time!

We are making this shift to better serve our community—especially working families, parents juggling school schedules, or anyone who can't make it to our morning events.

It’s also in preparation for Calvary Academy starting soon at this location. We’ve shifted our time to move outside of school operation hours. Learn more about the school here! calvaryacademy.online.

⏰ When: Tonight from 5:30 PM to ~6:30 PM.

📌 Since we are targeting working families and preparing for eventual school operation, we’re asking people to arrive after 5pm to get in line. Our parking team will be there to assist.

What to expect starting tonight:
New Schedule: We are moving to a bi-weekly format (alternating weeks with our Fairgrounds distributions).

New Check-in tool: We are testing a new check-in system using the RAN (Resource Assistance Network app). We’d like help from neighbors who can download and use it. Our check-in team will guide us on site for questions. You can pre-download the app by searching Resource Assistance Navigator in the Apple App or Google Play store. The app will qualify you as eligible to receive food, similar to the physical from you may be used to (be advised, this app contains ads not affiliated with Let’s Feed Citrus, USDA, or Farmshare.)

For those who may be wondering what is the difference between BASICS and the COLD shelter, BASICS operates year round where the shelter is only open at 40 degrees or below. BASICS also primarily operates and coordinates all things with and for the Citrus Cold Weather Shelter.

Chris Morra (manager) is a community focused owner who loves to jump in and help wherever he can, while sparking interest in community support and running a deliciously fun resturant. He has stepped up dozens of times since we opened the Cold Weather Shelter to help with meals when we have need. Everyone from the resturant is always finding ways to help the community. ❤️ When you stop in you'll be greeted with smiles and friendship all around. To pair with the yummy various foods there are fun and festive drinks and the kindest friends to serve and make your morning or afternoon a joy. Swing in today, check out the "BS", and while you're there drop some donation goods off for our drive.
