Starting November 14, our clear-bottom kayak tours return to the spring, gliding you right over the water while fish and manatees pass beneath you without you ever getting wet. No experience needed, just curiosity. If you joined us last season, you already know why this one fills up fast.

You don't need a wetsuit or a boat to get this close to a manatee. The Fish Bowl puts you at eye level with the spring, and manatees drift past the glass on their own schedule, unhurried, unbothered, completely themselves. It's one of the few truly reliable ways in Florida to see one this close without getting in the water.

Most people walk right past the geocaching without knowing it's there. The park has hidden caches tucked along the trails, which turns a normal visit into something closer to a scavenger hunt for anyone with a phone and a little patience. It's a good way to get kids moving without them realizing they're on a nature walk.

You've probably driven past this park on Suncoast Boulevard and had no idea what's actually inside. Manatees, alligators, black bears, an underwater observatory, all inside one walkable loop that most road trip itineraries skip completely. This is the stop nobody tells you about until they've already been.

This is what 72 degree spring water looks like from below the surface. The Fish Bowl Underwater Observatory drops you right into the middle of it, fish moving in loose formation, light filtering down from above, and if you're patient, a manatee drifting past close enough to feel like you could reach out and touch it. Stairs are required to get down there, and every step is worth it.

Nobody told this guy the cameras were rolling. A red fox slipped out of the ferns this week, took his time at the creek's edge, and moved on like he owned the place, which honestly, out here, he kind of does. Moments like this are why we always tell folks to slow down and look twice on the trail. Florida's wild side doesn't wait for an audience, it just shows up.

October just showed up quiet. The light comes in lower now, the water holds a little more mist, and the whole park feels like it's exhaling after summer. Nothing dramatic happens here in the fall. That's kind of the point. Come stand still for a minute and let the season do the talking.

Happy Wednesday from Homosassa Springs. Hump day feels a little easier when you get to spend it surrounded by clear water, old oaks, and whatever wildlife decides to show up.
