~🦅 What a Wonderful Release Day! 🦃💚~

There is nothing quite like watching our patients return to where they belong—the wild! Today was an extra-special release day as five American Kestrels and one beautiful Osceola Turkey were given their freedom. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Lord and his family for releasing them onto their beautiful property and providing such a wonderful place for these amazing birds to be released.

Watching the five American Kestrels take to the sky was an incredible sight. One by one, they spread their wings, flew high, and began exploring their new surroundings. After all the care, time, and rehabilitation that goes into preparing these birds for release, seeing them soar freely is the moment we work so hard for. 🦅✨

Our Osceola Turkey also got to begin its next chapter, stepping back into the beautiful Florida habitat where it belongs. 🦃🌿

Every successful release represents countless hours of care, feeding, cleaning, rehabilitation, observation, and dedication. From the people who find and rescue these animals to our volunteers, supporters, and the property owners who provide safe release locations—it truly takes a community to give wildlife a second chance.

Rescue. Rehabilitate. Release. 💚
That final word—release—is always our favorite!

Fly high, little kestrels, and enjoy your freedom! And to our Osceola Turkey, may your next adventure be a long and wild one. 🌎🌿

This week’s Spotlight Saturday goes to one of our amazing volunteers, Trish! 🧡🦅

Trish comes to Nature World Wildlife Sanctuary with high energy, a positive attitude, and a true passion for helping wildlife. She is definitely one of our go-getters! When an animal is injured, orphaned, or in need, Trish doesn’t hesitate to step up. No matter where the animal may be or what species needs help, if Trish is available, she is ready to go!

Whether she is heading out on a rescue, transporting an animal to safety, helping with daily care, feeding patients, cleaning enclosures, or simply lending an extra set of hands wherever they are needed, Trish jumps right in. She truly enjoys caring for the animals and knowing that her time and effort are helping give them another chance at life in the wild.

Wildlife rehabilitation takes a tremendous amount of teamwork, dedication, compassion, and sometimes a willingness to drop everything and answer the call. Volunteers like Trish make it possible for us to continue our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing Florida’s native wildlife. 🐿️🦉🦅🦝

PLEASE CONTACT A PERMITTED WILDLIFE REHABILITATOR

Wild animals have specialized medical, nutritional, housing, and rehabilitation needs. If you find wildlife that appears injured, orphaned, sick, or in distress, please do not attempt to raise or rehabilitate the animal yourself as it is against the law.

📞 Contact a permitted wildlife rehabilitator for guidance as soon as possible.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) maintains an official statewide list of permitted wildlife rehabilitators, including their location, phone number, counties served, and the types of wildlife they are permitted to rehabilitate. The current list is organized by facility county and was revised August 12, 2026.

🦤🌊 FUN FACT FRIDAY — Meet the Brown Pelican! 🌊🦤
Brown Pelicans are one of Florida’s most recognizable coastal birds, and they are incredible fishermen! Unlike many other pelican species, Brown Pelicans often plunge-dive from the air to catch fish below the surface.
Their famous throat pouch works like a fishing net. After scooping up fish and water, the pelican tips its head to drain the water before swallowing its catch. They can also have an impressive wingspan of more than 7 feet, allowing them to glide beautifully along the coastline.
Brown Pelicans are social birds and are often seen resting, feeding, and nesting in groups. They also have one of wildlife conservation’s great comeback stories. After suffering serious population declines in the past, conservation efforts helped bring them back in strong numbers.

💜🦅 Wishing Wednesday! 🦉🐦💚

Every day at Nature World Wildlife Sanctuary, we care for injured, orphaned, and sick native Florida wildlife—including eagles, owls, songbirds, squirrels, opossums, rabbits, and many more.

From food and formula to medical supplies, enrichment, cleaning products, and specialized care, every item helps us give our patients the best possible chance to heal and return to the wild.

It costs us approximately $8,000 each month to continue doing what we do for the animals, and we receive no government funding. We truly depend on the generosity of our community to keep our mission going.

This Spotlight Saturday goes to Paul, one of our dedicated volunteers who goes above and beyond to help protect and care for our native wildlife.

Paul not only helps Nature World Wildlife Sanctuary with our patients in need, but he also takes his passion for wildlife conservation into the community. He works alongside the Trappers Association, advocating for humane trapping practices and helping educate others on the importance of handling wildlife with compassion, respect, and understanding.

Through his efforts, Paul helps bridge the gap between wildlife, homeowners, and trappers by promoting solutions that protect both people and animals. His dedication helps ensure that wildlife encounters are handled responsibly and that animals have the best chance possible to survive and thrive.

We are incredibly grateful for everything Paul does—from helping our animals behind the scenes to standing up for wildlife and spreading awareness about humane practices. Volunteers like Paul make our mission of rescue, rehabilitation, education, and conservation possible.

🦉🌿 FUN FACT FRIDAY — Meet the Barred Owl! 🌿🦉

Barred Owls are beautiful forest-dwelling raptors known for their large dark eyes, brown-and-white barred feathers, and unforgettable call.

One of their most recognizable sounds is the classic:

“Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all?” 🎶

These owls are mostly active at night and use their excellent hearing, sharp vision, and nearly silent flight to hunt prey such as mice, frogs, snakes, small birds, and other small animals.

Their soft, specialized feathers help reduce sound as they fly, allowing them to move through the forest with incredible stealth. Their patterned feathers also provide excellent camouflage against tree bark and woodland surroundings.

Barred Owls often nest in tree cavities or other protected nesting areas and are commonly found throughout forests in the eastern United States.

At Nature World Wildlife Sanctuary, we are proud to rescue, rehabilitate, and care for injured and orphaned native wildlife, including amazing birds of prey like the Barred Owl. Our goal is always to help them heal, regain their strength, and return to the wild where they belong. 💚

Every day, Nature World Wildlife Sanctuary cares for orphaned, injured, and recovering native Florida wildlife. From the smallest babies to our older patients, each animal depends on us for proper food, formula, supplies, enrichment, and a safe place to heal.

Our monthly expenses are approximately $8,000, and we receive no government funding. That means every donation, wishlist purchase, and act of support makes a real difference for the wildlife in our care.

This week, some of our most-needed items include formula, paper towels, unscented baby wipes, free & clear laundry detergent, bleach, unflavored Pedialyte, heating pads, digital kitchen scales, nuts, chicks, mice, insects, and gift cards.
