🌧️ WEATHER UPDATE | HONDO POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Hondo Police Department continues to closely monitor the potential for heavy rainfall in our area.

As a proactive safety precaution, tomorrow evening we anticipate making the decision to close the flood gates at the slough ahead of the expected rainfall. Closing the gates in advance will help ensure the area is secured before conditions potentially deteriorate.

We will continue monitoring weather conditions and will provide additional updates to the community as needed.

Please stay weather-aware, use caution when traveling during periods of heavy rain, and never attempt to drive around barricades or through flooded roadways.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to keep our community safe.

A slow moving cold front will bring multiple chances for heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding late today through Friday. Chances for heavy rain and flash flooding are highest Wednesday night into Friday. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with isolated higher amounts up to 8 inches are possible. Monitor trusted sources for forecast updates as we move through the work week.
