City of Hondo Animal Care Services & Shelter The City of Hondo Animal Shelter is a temporary home to lost, unwanted and stray animals. If you are interested in adoption please call or come by.

Our goal is to ensure humane care while the animals are in our custody, enable adoptions to individuals and facilitate transfers to rescue organizations, and humanely euthanize animals as necessary. Adoption and reclaim hours are 9 am - 5 pm, Monday- Friday. Our fees include:

Dog and Cat Registration

(Non-spayed or

neutered): $7.00
Impound Fees:

Daily Handling Fee: $10.00
Quarantine Daily Fee: $12.00
Rabies Vaccination: $22.00
Animal disposal - any animals surrendered by owners: $25.00
Euthanasia Fee: $25.00
Microchip Fee: $10.00
Adoption Fee: $30.00

Good Morning Castroville,

We are proud to announce a 6th Low cost Spay/Neuter Event held in the Castroville Regional Park! The event is set for September 15, 2026.

Clinic event is open to all Medina County Residents.

Many, Many Thanks to Pinky’s Pet Resort LLC, Honey-Do Residential Services and many other generous donors for sponsoring the event as well as Dragonfly Veterinary Services for bringing their mobile clinic to perform surgeries!

Prices are listed below. Slots go fast, so sign up quickly. We will update this post when all slots have been filled.
