🔥 CLIMBING FOR THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE 🔥

Members of the Honeoye Falls Fire Department are proud to participate in this year’s National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Annual Stair Climb, honoring the brave firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on September 11, 2001.

This event is more than climbing stairs. Each step represents a firefighter who never made it home. Our members will climb in their honor, carrying their names and their stories with us every step of the way.

🎯 OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL: $1,000.00

We are asking our friends, family, neighbors, and community members to help us reach our $1,000 fundraising goal by making a donation to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF).

Your donations help the Foundation provide critical support to families of fallen firefighters, including financial assistance, counseling and grief support, educational scholarships, survivor programs, and resources that help families navigate life after losing a firefighter.

Donations also help the NFFF work to reduce firefighter deaths and injuries through training, education, and programs designed to make sure more firefighters come home safely.

The Honeoye Falls Fire Department regretfully announces the passing of long time member Gerald Lonthair on July 24th 2026. Jerry was an integral part of our department for multiple decades and an example to many people in the Rochester area for what professional public service looks like at the highest level. We are proud to have known Jerry and to call him one of our own. We will miss his steady leadership and constant mentorship.

​Spoiler alert: You don't need to be an Olympic powerlifter, you don't need to live at the firehouse, and no, you don't need to know how to control a hoseline on day one (we’ll teach you!).

​We are an all-hazards response team, which means structure fires are just a small fraction of what we do. From emergency medical response and traffic accidents to search and rescue, there is a vital role for your specific skill set, whether that's interior firefighting, exterior scene management, driving, or serving as an EMS provider.

​We hold ourselves to the highest professional standards and earn the exact same state and national certifications as career firefighters. But we also know you have a life outside the bay! You respond when you're available. And yes, you can show up to the station in your swim trunks, just make sure you leave the pool floaties behind before getting on the truck!🦩

This evening, the Honeoye Falls Fire Department responded to a report of an injured hiker located on a remote section of the trail system at Mendon Ponds Park.

​Due to the difficult terrain, a coordinated off-road rescue was put into motion. Units were on the scene within 15 minutes of the initial call. We deployed our HFFD UTV, and a paramedic from CHS Ambulance rode out into the woods with our crew to immediately initiate Advanced Life Support care.

​Working seamlessly alongside the Mendon Fire Department’s crew and their UTV, the patient was safely packaged and extricated from the trail system within an hour of the initial dispatch.

​We want to extend a huge thank you to our partner agencies, Mendon Fire and CHS Ambulance. Tonight was a textbook example of how multi-agency teamwork, shared resources, and quick communication lead to a great outcome.

We wish the hiker a safe and speedy recovery!

Sometimes, being a hero has nothing to do with a title and everything to do with taking action.

We weren’t surprised to see Elsie Mannix recognized as an Everyday Hero. Those of us at the Honeoye Falls Fire Department have long known the kind of person she is.

As a dedicated member of our Fire Department Auxiliary, Elsie has always been committed to serving others. When a medical emergency led to a motor vehicle crash outside her workplace, she didn’t hesitate. She immediately stepped in to check on the driver, provide comfort, and remain by their side until first responders arrived.

That instinct to help, to put others first, and to act without hesitation reflects the values we strive to uphold every day.

Congratulations, Elsie, on this well-deserved recognition. Your compassion, selflessness, and dedication make the Honeoye Falls Fire Department and our entire community proud.

Heroes don’t always arrive on the fire truck. Sometimes, they were already there.

🚨 Every Second Counts! 🚨

​Tonight, your Honeoye Falls Fire Department volunteers hit the training grounds for intensive drills focusing on two of the most critical aspects of firefighting: hose line advancement and pump operations.

​When a fire breaks out, time is our biggest enemy. That’s why our training had strict, high-pressure benchmarks to meet:

​Water on the Fire: Under 2 minutes ⏱️💦

​Continuous Water Supply Established: Under 4 minutes 🚒💧

​These rapid deployment drills ensured that our engine companies and pump operators can work seamlessly together to protect life and property the moment we arrive on the scene. Muscle memory and teamwork are what make hitting these critical times possible.

​Thank you to everyone who gave us a wave while we were out practicing! We train hard so we are always ready for you. Stay safe, Honeoye Falls!

🚨 EXTREME HEAT ALERT 🚨

​The Honeoye Falls Fire Department wants to ensure our community stays safe during this week's heatwave. With the heat index expected to reach 105+ degrees, it is critical to take proactive precautions:
​
​💧 Drink Water Frequently: Hydrate continuously throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.

​🏠 Stay Indoors During Peak Heat Hours: The sun is strongest between late morning and late afternoon. If you must be outside, limit strenuous activity and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

​🤝 Check on Vulnerable People: Extreme heat is especially dangerous for older adults, young children, and those with medical conditions. Call or visit your neighbors, and NEVER leave pets or people in a parked car.

​Know the Signs of Heat Illness:
If you or someone else experiences dizziness, nausea, confusion, or a rapid pulse, seek a cool environment immediately. Call 911 if symptoms are severe, if someone is disoriented, or if they stop sweating.
