Richmond Fire District Structure Fire Press Release

On July 14, 2026, at 1913 hours, the Richmond Fire District, along with automatic mutual aid departments, were dispatched to a reported smoke inside a residence on County Road 33 in the Town of South Bristol.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a well-involved two-story residential structure fire. Firefighters quickly initiated fire attack while establishing a sustained water supply in a non hydrant area.

One adult and a dog were home at the time of the fire and were able to safely evacuate prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Despite the efforts of responding firefighters, the residence sustained catastrophic damage and is considered a total loss. The occupants have been relocated.

Due to the extreme heat and the significant manpower required to safely operate on the scene while allowing firefighters to rotate, a third alarm was requested. The additional personnel ensured crews could take appropriate breaks while maintaining fire suppression and overhaul operations.

The Richmond Fire District would like to extend its sincere appreciation to all of our mutual aid partners for their prompt response, professionalism, and assistance throughout this incident. Their support was instrumental in bringing the fire under control and ensuring the safety of everyone on scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

We will keep you updated with times as we have members sign up to sell. As of right now we know 10a-2pm tomorrow and Friday all day. If you drive by and one our members is outside then we are open for business. We will update as more concrete times become available.

UPDATE: Road is open at this time.

*** EAST LAKE ROAD CLOSED***

East Lake Road is CLOSED to traffic going both directions south of Log Cabin Point.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route until it reopens.

Class of 2026 Parents! During the high winds this evening the signs in front of the schools of your children’s photos were being blown into the road and being damaged. The fire dept has picked them up, notified the school, and will return them tomorrow.

This evening, the Richmond Fire Department was dispatched to a porch on fire on East Lake Road. Crews arrived on location of a seasonal home with active fire on the porch and nobody home. The fire was quickly extinguished with no extension to the house. Quick thinking by RFD crews and Ontario County Sheriffs prevented what could have led to a major incident.

While multiple members were sitting in their boaters safety course at the firehouse this afternoon, Richmond Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to Honeoye Lake for 2 kayakers who capsized and were floating in the water. Members responded quickly and arrived at the kayakers as they were reaching a point in the water where they could stand.

This time of year we remind people that life jackets save lives especially now when the water is cold! Wear it, stay safe!
