Every person counts, and an accurate Census helps ensure our communities receive the federal resources they deserve.

We're excited to share that, in partnership with Greater Pike Community Foundation, the Wayne County Community Foundation has received a $90,000 grant from the William Penn Foundation to help Wayne and Pike Counties prepare for the 2030 Census.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our neighbors, local organizations, and community leaders to make sure everyone is counted!

Joy Hubshman, UNC’s Director of Community Housing Development, was recently invited to speak at the 2026 Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (PAHRA) Conference, alongside Tom Campbell, Executive Director of Community Development of the Poconos, and Ryanne Jennings, President and CEO of the Wayne County Community Foundation.

Their session, “Creative Paths to Building Capacity, Coalitions and Homes,” explored how rural and small-town Pennsylvania communities are thinking outside the box to tackle housing challenges.

🏘️ From creative solutions to unexpected partnerships, the discussion highlighted how local leaders and nonprofits are joining forces to create more housing opportunities.💙

It was a pleasure welcoming Governor Josh Shapiro to Honesdale this week!

Our President/CEO, Ryanne, and Community Engagement Manager, Derek, were glad to hear the Governor speak at Wayne Memorial Hospital about Pennsylvania's new Nurse Shortage Assistance Program, an initiative designed to help recruit and retain nurses through student loan repayment assistance.

Access to quality healthcare is an important part of a prosperous community, especially here in rural Pennsylvania.

We're grateful for the opportunity to listen and be part of conversations that matter to the future of Wayne County!

Last week, our President/CEO, Ryanne Jennings, and Board Vice Chair, Andy Chapman, traveled to Chicago to connect with representatives from 11 other community foundations across the country for three days of learning and collaboration. Hosted by the The Chicago Community Trust , this intensive was led by Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO), Community Foundation Opportunity Network (CFON), and CFLeads.

We're grateful for the opportunity to focus on board governance—the engine that keeps community foundations running smoothly—and to exchange ideas that will help strengthen our work here in Wayne County.

Ryanne and Andy even found time to sneak in a visit to the new Obama Presidential Library, an especially meaningful stop during Banned Books Week!
