Aloha and a hui hou to Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Jan Norris, from Pacific Team Signal where Soldiers and Civilians of the 311th SC (T) and the 516th Theater Signal Brigade in Hawaii, and the 1st Signal Brigade in Korea, many of whom worked with you as our Deputy Commander and later as our Commanding General, wish you a fond farewell and a very happy retirement!

Sir, your many years of engaged leadership to the units and teams of the 311th helped shape and steer the command to success. You will be long remembered for your ambassadorship of our teammates and families.

Before retiring Saturday, Norris officially relinquished command of the 335th Signal Command (Theater) after two years of dedicated leadership during a ceremony held at the Georgia Tech Research Institute and presided over by Robert Harter.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of Maj. Gen. Norris’ tenure leading the 335th SC(T), where he helped strengthen readiness, modernization and mission success across the formation.

Thank you, Sir, for your leadership, mentorship and commitment to all those whom you served alongside. As you embark on your next chapter, please know you led and mentored well the next generation who will carry on your legacy.

Signaleers Talk Partnerships, AI at LANPAC

Soldiers of the 307th Expeditionary Signal Battalion-Enhanced shared fond memories of friendships made with joint partners while supporting Operation Pathways missions across the region, during Land Forces Pacific Symposium and Exposition in Waikiki, May 12-14.

Also during LANPAC 2026, Maj. Gen. Jacqueline McPhail, Commander, U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM), participated in a discussion panel of military leaders and defense experts who shared their perspectives on how artificial intelligence and machine learning are reshaping modern warfare. Each panelist weighed in on the growing importance of maintaining decision superiority in complex operational environments.

LANPAC is a professional development forum hosted by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and supported by U.S. Army Pacific. This year’s event brought together Soldiers, military leaders, mission and industry partners to envision and shape the future of Land power across the Indo-Pacific region. The three-day event featured discussions on hot topics, keynote addresses from senior military leaders, interactive audience participation, and hands‑on demonstrations showcasing the latest defense technologies and services.

"We can train the AI, and still count on job security for the foreseeable future, " McPhail said. "We have the ability to do critical thinking, not the AI."

"A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself."
~ Oprah Winfrey

Soldiers and Civilians of HHC, 311th SC (T) found new ways to build each other up over the past week. From Hawaiian Canoe paddling PT led by Staff Sgt. Kden Pacram with Radford High School alumni at Keehi Lagoon, a VR Escape Room activity for Civilians, a themed basket contest and barbecue, to a Leaders Professional Development session on Mentorship by Capt. Myers, G2 Intelligence Section, the team rowed together, shared a meal, and found new inspiration.

Mahalo to Pacram and 1st Sgt. Cruz for photos, and to Maj. Hignight and Maj. Walker for grilling the "ono grinds" enjoyed by all!
