2026 Conference, that’s a wrap! 👏 After a week or so of long long evenings, negotiating bills, working with our Senate counterparts, and running up and down the Capitol stairwell, we finally finished conference season for the 2026 Legislative Session! Thank you to all who supported us along the way!

A month ago I sat down with Sam Hiner and Mick Tobin from to talk about HB1782 — our bill to protect Hawaiʻi’s keiki from manipulative and unsafe AI chatbot design. While HB1782 didn’t make it through, the good news is that SB3001 — introduced by — is still advancing in conference, and we’re actively working together to ensure it carries the strongest protections possible for our keiki. Mahalo to our lead conference Chairs for your hard work and to Sam and Mick for your tireless advocacy!

Conference is ON. 🏛️⚡
Gaveled in for my very first conference hearing and we have a bill!! The Senate and House passed HB2297, Hawaiʻi’s adult and community education programs.
It’s been a week! The Capitol is buzzing, legislators are sprinting between rooms, and we’re ready to keep working hard to get as many bills through the finish line! 💙🙏🏻

Survived committees.
Survived floor votes.
A few of our bills (and companions) are staying aliiive 🪩🕺🏽
Give us the good vibes 🙏🏻

Happy Earth Day! I’m proud to share that Naomi Koga, an 8th grader from Mililani Middle School is the winner of our Earth Day contest! Her submission highlights “Grow Your Own,” the importance of food security and resiliency, particularly as the state imports up to 90% of the food we consume, including fruits and vegetables!
As an amateur backyard gardener myself, my kids and I find joy in getting to plant and harvest the vegetables and fruits we plant and watch how butterflies and bees visit the flowers that bloom in our yard! As your state lawmaker, I’ve always pushed for policies to grow and serve local school meals and achieve our farm to school goals, while getting us closer to true universal meals! Happy Earth Day everyone and please be kind to our planet. 💙

Honored to welcome the Alzheimer’s Association advocates to our office last week. 💜 Every family impacted by Alzheimer’s deserves early diagnosis, quality access to care, and real investment in research - mahalo to the providers and advocates who showed up at the Capitol to push for policy change.
